I ordered a Mini in July as i am rejoining the scheme and do not have a car at present and the car was due to be built in november and now it is going to be built in december, i noticed on other forums some have ordered there mini’s before me and they are saying it maybe now due in 2022 i am confused what to do as a Peugeot dealer i had contacted before ordering the Mini said they had a delivery of my second choice car next week so i phoned my Mini dealer and the salesman said it was too late cancel and as they have  £350 deposit of mine.He also told me it would be built in first two weeks of dec but i could have had a car now if i could have cancelled.

Not going to advise about deposits as its come up on the forum time and time again and is an area of much debate.

The sales guy saying its too late because we got your deposit is talking out of his butt, for a start the car is a long way from being manufactured so there is no problem cancelling the car.

I think your best bet is to ring Motability tomorrow and tell them however that said I think the sales guy who told you they got the car you want coming in next week maybe pie in the sky too so a bit tricky situation of being in-between a rock and a hard place.

Just my thoughts and maybe someone with better advice will be along soon.

Go with the Peugeot if you need a car and can get it next week. December might come around and then they tell you another couple of month. Who knows in the current situation. Dealer has no right to keep your deposit.

ask dealer to show you the car. if its there then cancel and take it. you might have to fight for the deposit tho, but if car is important now it might be worth it
