I’ve had my ID5 since May and it’s been superb. Cannot say the same for the Ohme home charger. First of all it didn’t talk to the ohme servers it took a month to fix and apparently a charging clamp had to be changed too as it was faulty and then after two weeks of working fine it just went completely dead. It’s taken 3 weeks to get someone out to fix it as ohme were convinced I was trying to re raise the original problem and couldn’t conceive that there was another new problem. Turned out it had burnt out at the charging cable end that fits in the box. That’s been fixed today and it shows a charging rate of 3.72kw is that correct ? Shouldn’t we get up to 7 kw on these chargers?

Exactly the same 3.7kW, I got charging at my mums but, didn’t have time to investigate. However, the problem is most likely to be with (you guessed it), the CT clamp!
If you take a look at the CT clamp, there is am arrow on it and this needs pointing away from your electricity meter. If its not it can be easily be unclipped via the clip on the clamp and turned around, so the arrow is facing away from the meter!
It sounds like you have the Ohme E-Pod charger, which is harder to reprogram once its already has been and needs remotely accessing from the Installer or Ohme, so unfortunately you can’t turn off load balancing to check yourself.
My advice is if the CT clamp is correctly installed, ring Ohme and specifically state you want to open a new case, as your car is now charging a 3.7kW again 🙂

The clamp should also be snug around the tail with a little play but, not like a sack of spuds, if it is, its likely to be a large for domestic tails 16-25mm and not getting a good sensing area.
August 14, 2024 at 6:04 pm #286788Well this just got interesting. Ohme seem to be under the impression the fitter fitted a whole new charger yesterday. They didn’t they cut off the burnt out ends and refitted the clamp . I’ve bounced it back to ohme to look into. Meanwhile it’s charging only slightly faster than the granny charger I’ve been having to make to with.
August 15, 2024 at 12:22 pm #286831Makes you wonder, if the person who came out to repair it did a sub standard repair and kept the new charger for his stock!
If the cable has burn’t or melted, simply cutting the bad bit off, would be poor workmanship from an electrician.
August 15, 2024 at 5:35 pm #286853I’m not entirely sure what I’m looking at so I’ve taken a photo of inside the meter. The grey box is completely free with the tiniest flimsiest wires attached to it so I’m thinking that’s the first port of call for error. Clamp reading is zero on the app

August 15, 2024 at 5:38 pm #286855And it’s making a buzzing noise every second
August 15, 2024 at 6:34 pm #286859In the Wago box there will be be 2/3 Wago connectors most likely 221’s.

If you ease the box out, to check the orientation arrow on the CT clamp, making sure the arrow is pointing down to the Henley blocks below (2 small black boxes, where the tails connect)
There will be a tab on the CT clamp which you can unclip and reposition so the arrow is pointing down if neccessary. With the CT clamp removed, it will give you more space to pull the box out and check the cat 5 wires are securely held into the Wago clips by giving them a gentle pull.
The 2 main reasons that cause CT clamps to buzz are either its not fully closed or the core is fractured/cracked.

August 17, 2024 at 7:32 pm #287029@kezo ive had a look at my installation, mainly the clamp i wanted to see if the arrow was pointing away from the meter…and it is,but i dont think its a really snug fit on the cable you can slide the clamp up and down quite easily.
Not used the Epod yet as i am still waiting for my car.

it won’t be that tight as in you can’t move it 😀
August 19, 2024 at 12:29 pm #287077Sounds like imo and own experience that another Ohme bodge job has been completed by one of their many sub contractor who I suspect first took a slice of the pie and then simply re-contracted it straight out again to anyone and anybody thats closest to you and was the cheapest
Dont let them give you the runaround
The quickest way imo to resolve this matter seeing now that this is a recall is to make an official complaint online if that dosent resolve the problem then contact Motorbility CEO PA and trust me things will then quickly be resolved.
August 20, 2024 at 2:49 pm #287171I raised a complaint this morning as I haven’t had a properly working charger at all yet, and my charger was fitted in March ( car arrived 11thMay) they contacted me and run a few diagnostics and @kezo called it correctly it’s a badly fitted ct clamp. Due to the other safety features in my household electrics they’ve overridden the clamp temporarily and asked me to keep them informed when the contractor actually contacts me. It does look like ohme have been let down by the contractor and are investigating it. I can’t ask any more from them than that I feel.
August 20, 2024 at 3:43 pm #287172It really makes me wonder what installers they actually use, as a non functioning CT clamp should be picked up in the commissioning process before it signed off, to the customer!
It really is inexcusable, that installers are doctoring commissioning check lists, either through inexperience or couldn’t be bothered attitude!

August 20, 2024 at 4:23 pm #287173They just plugged the car in and saw the green charging light. They didn’t check anything

I can imagine they do that on most of their installs and as long as the light comes on, everything must be ok 😂
The main thing,is it will hopefully get sorted for you soon.
August 21, 2024 at 1:58 am #287193One the benefits of the Ohme Home Pro is the screen. When my charger was fitted I asked the sparky to try it on the car. Plugged in and it started charging right away. The sparky pointed to the Ohme Charger and it showed charging at 7.4 Kw.
The sparky was a young guy very competent, a neat tidy job.
Some can and some can’t. Fortunately very few are the latter.
August 26, 2024 at 2:51 pm #287482Reading the above posts it seems a year or so on from my very own Ohme contractor woes that Ohme have not improved when it comes to their sub contracted motorbility installs
My advice is simply this
Once your complaint has been actioned/looked at/so called fixed and the problem still remains then esculate to the Motorbility CEO PA asap
Ohme will then
Run around at full speed to resolve
Dont be messed with and fobbed off imo
Been there got the T Shirt
