Went to charge my car last night and got the message in the Ohme app to say my charger was offline. Power cycled it as Ohme say but still the same. Tried to contact Ohme but their helpline closes at 4pm and doesn’t open on a weekend.
Is this really acceptable? I’m now having to use public chargers until it gets fixed.

I’ve also emailed Andrew Miller as it’s just not good enough.
October 14, 2025 at 3:25 pm #315515Of course new installation calls will be picked up 🤑💰
Hopefully you will get a callback by the morning, giving you a further chance to explain the frequent issues to it stopped working all together and what you would like to be done. 🤞it’s today you get a call.
October 14, 2025 at 3:33 pm #315516Andrew Miller took only 5 minutes to respond to my email. He’s escalated it as he said that it shouldn’t have taken this long. Will be interesting to see if it speeds things up.

October 14, 2025 at 6:41 pm #315518An update. I went outside and noticed the charger was lit up so thought I would plug one of the cars in. Low and behold it’s charging again. Somebody must have dialed in and got it working.

Brilliant! A kick up the arse most likely.
Ohme could have and should have done that for you yesterday, without the need to wait for an engineer visit.
October 15, 2025 at 1:00 am #315526Yes, but as it keeps happening I hope they change the unit on Friday as I don’t trust it.
Just shows though that they could have sorted it days ago.

Now it’s in the hands of the CEO department, you should be able to go direct to them, if it happens again and request a replacement providing of course it’s not set in motion to be done Friday. However, you normally get a follow up call asking how things are going and you could stress how the issue keeps happening and you’d favour a replacement as a favourable outcome.
Of course if there is a no show on Friday, you can always send another email across to the CEO informing them of the no show and it was your understanding it was been replaced as Ohme told you, your charger was broken.
October 15, 2025 at 4:33 pm #315582@kezo I’ve had a call from Motability who have said the unit needs to be changed and they’ve authorised a second charger, seeing as we have 2 EV’s.

Thats not a bad outcome and prooves that it often pays going to the top!
Unless you have 3 phase at your home, I hope some thought is applied, as to the brand of charger/s that are going to be installed. I’ll explain however, it may not be a concern…
Looking at the Easee one charger for example, where upto 3 chargers can be daisy-chained togeter of the one circuit. This means, where there are 2 chargers installed (daisy-chained), if 2 vehicles are charged at the same time, the power is shared between them 7.4kW/2 (3.7kW each) however, the bonus with this set up is, if only 1 vehicle is charged, the power is the full 7.4kW.
Ohme chargers do not have this feature, so it’s likely both chargers will be capped at 3.6kW each, dependant on several factors, including the maximum single phase load to your home (14,4kW, 19.2kW & 24kW) and what other equipment, you have in the home, taking into account diversty and whether it is permissable with the DNO however, the DNO could consider 3 phase/polyphase if there is enough capacity in your area and already availbe in your street, which imo would be benificial and come at no cost to you.
October 15, 2025 at 8:55 pm #315610October 15, 2025 at 10:03 pm #315612The cut out fuse by the meter, is that 60A, 80A or 100A. It might say on given you already have a EV charger fitted.
If it’s 100A, you will get away with an extra charging circuit from the mains (Henley Blocks). If it’s 80A you are pushing it for 2 seperate charging circuits and you may want to promt the installer, that you want charging capped by CT Clamp (load balancing) where one charger can take precedence, rather than physically just limiting the charger/s outputs to 3.6kW, should the likes of Ohme Pro’s be installed.
Are you in Scotland and within reach of Bumblebee charge point installers?

October 22, 2025 at 4:32 pm #316140Sorry, forgot to post an update. The problem wasn’t the charger but was inside the outside electrical box. A component had failed and was getting worse as time went on. He said it was only a matter of time until it failed completely. Replaced the component and fingers crossed no problems since.

Thanks for update!
Have you had a second charger installed yet?
