Morning, got talking to a chap in the parking bay, he had a Nissan 2025 quashkiyieeei e power, I asked him is it good fuel efficiency he said he’s not noticed any change to any other car he’s had 🤔🫤👀…

Are they any good or is it just hype..

I can confirm what this gentleman has told you, I had my 2024 qashqai epower teckna for approximately 8 months before returning to the volvo xc40 b4 with the permission of motability due to the qashqai horrendous build quality namely unbearable dashboard rattles which could not be rectified after four attemps by the dealer. Mpg of 39 for the qashqai currently getting approximately 43 mpg from the volvo b4 and a superior car in every way.

Around 2.5 years in and 55,000 miles in our heavier Qashqai e-Power is posting poorer fuel economy (43.2mpg average) than our lighter X2 (45.6mpg average). And yes, I’m also having quality issues with the engine management light constantly appearing and have the occasional rattle coming from the doors.

I’m quite taken aback that Nissan has the audacity to charge a minimum of £30,000 for this reasonable quality hatchback.

@ajn I see alot round here with both Qashqai E Power &  A Trail E Power and E 4orce (awd) Those of whom I know to talk to easily get over 50mpg locally. A guy I drink with often has a X Trail E 4orce and gets low to mid 40’s without the caravan in tow and prefers it to the Sportage hybrid he had previous. Nissan have improved economy further on the facelift version.

Can’t find the thread, but @mike-700 has the Qashqai E-Power for around 2yrs and I have copied and pasted a comment from him I found in the search area.

i normally get around 55-56 mpg , but during the winter period ,using heating, de- misting, wipers, headlights etc this drops down to about 40-42 mpg

Hopefully Mike will pop in later 🙂

                  cheers

Mainly Copied from some of my previous Posts on the ePower

I have a 2 and a half year old Nissan Qashqai ePower,  which has now done some 27,000 miles.

It  is a 100% electric drive, just like any other EV, but the battery is not charged by a plug in method, rather it is charged by an on board petrol ICE, which unlike most ‘hybrids’ is not connected to the ‘drive’ system, only to the battery!

Being a fully electric driven vehicle it certainly suffers from exactly the same problems as other EV’s especially with range due to weather conditions, amongst other things!

As an example, i normally get and indeed  have been getting all this summer, around 55-56 mpg locally, which is a hell of a sight better than most ICE cars during stop start local  motoring., but during the winter period ,using heating, de- misting, wipers, headlights etc this drops down to about 40-42 mpg and even less if driving on a motorway at high speed ( compared to town driving ) in bad Weather!

Everyone who travels in the ePower enjoys the experience- I have genuinely’ not had any negative comments, other than the very first time I had a non family member passenger, who ‘s overall comment on the car was favourable, but he did say something like’ well, it’s not a Tesla’! To which my reply was ‘ no it isn’t,but it is half the price your son paid for his Tesla!

Alot depends how you drive, as no two people are the same. Typically mild hybrid, has a intergrated starter generator, which combines the function of the starter motor and alternator and powered by a small 48v lithium battery and mainly aids start/stop functionality reducing C02, whils’t allowing energy recovery when coasting or braking and a boost in economy by 4-5mpg (plenty of info on the net)

                    Another XC40 or another model?

It’s a shame Volvo haven’t modernised as with other brands and indeed it’s sister car the 2024/5 Atlas!

Must say the 2ltr engine is very acceptable when needed, and tbh if I’m out driving I just want to get there/back..

Totally agree though Volvo been very lazy over the 5 yrs I’ve had this one 🫤

Geely is bringing the EX5 to the UK in Q4, but thats electric. Pitty they didn’t bring ICE models, as that may just make Volvo think 😂

The QQ has the grunt of the 2l XC40 doing the same 7.6s 0-62, as does the slightly bigger facelift Sportage hybrid, which is worth a look. I’ts certainly worth looking around at what little is available 🙂
