Nissan has revealed the second-generation Juke, claiming that the trendsetting compact crossover has “grown up”, with improved performance and practicality.

The new model was unveiled at events in five European cities and is available to order now in the UK, priced from £17,395.

The original Juke was launched in 2010 and Nissan has sold nearly one million examples since then, but having effectively founded the compact crossover class, it has come face to face with increased competition from a glut of new arrivals.

I always quite liked the funkiness of the Juke, as did my wife. She took one for a drive when looking to replace her car but the CVT was awful and she’s calls them Jokes ever since.

This 2 gen looks good still.

Way overdue, may have considered it had the timing been better.

The problem with Nissan is they do not manufacture exciting cars nowadays.

Also, they leave their models in production far too long, meaning whenever they do update a vehicle (such as the Juke in this case) it has to catch up with the rest of the market which have invariably overtaken Nissan in terms of innovation, evolution, technology etc.

Whether the new Juke will be popular or not remains to be seen but set against some of the compact cross overs from the likes of Peugeot, Volkswagen, Mazda, Volvo, Hyundai etc, it has a lot of catching up to do.

The interior is much improved looks wise.

But the outside is still ugly and again the odd styling means it’s less practical?

Lovely close up of the orange peel in the paint.

i confess i like the look of this and the c-hr, i would be ok but i think some would struggle with the boot and back seat space. i would look at it, be interesting to see what the price is compared to the old one. the premiere model is certainly striking.
