Apologies if this has been asked before but can’t see anything regarding it.

My question is; once you’ve been given your motability car, what (if any) aesthetic changes can you make to the car?

For example, the two things I’m primarily asking about is am I allowed to get the windows tinted and can I get the chrome bits of the car (the chrome on the bumper, round the windows etc) blacked out (dechromed).

      Thanks.

I think the changes you can make are changes that can be reversed when you hand the car back, such as wind deflectors.

For such permanent changes you really need to contact Motability as that what they say in the website\https://www.motability.co.uk/get-support/faqs/modify-vehicle-or-add-extras/

Tinting windows is allowed (as long as the tints are legal of course).  And adding mudflaps is quite normal.  Dechroming would definitely be a no.

When I got my Mini Cooper S, I paid extra for the black pack and tinted rear windows but the belt line and front bumper had chrome which they offered to do for a little extra.

Minor adjustments like that will not hurt when you put the car back in. Bodysuits, lowering springs that dramatically alter the cars appearance will probably get you into trouble.

The chrome stuff around the widows and lettering on our xc40, was mentioned quite often, my Sons, Daughters friends I remember saying the chrome bits resembles an old man’s car…

Well I’m getting on a bit now so don’t mind ?..

Oh and a old school friend of mine too, but he still things he’s 21?

Mrs aj wanted the R design (no chrome black instead),but she had her way with Volvo, sooo..
