Hello I ordered my mobility car just before Christmas 2024. I received an email from Mercedes on Monday saying great news. They have found my car. And that they would keep it for 14 days for collection after this it will go onto the sales market. I sent the email to the salesman in the dealership which was generally quite helpful from the beginning but I feel something could be fishy. I sent him the email and I told him what day this week I could collect the car we both agreed on a date. today I have emailed him for some information on the car so I’m able to park outside my property but then he emails me back saying it too early for a numberplate details and my car won’t be ready until April ? doesn’t make sense. I called the dealership I spoke to the manager he told me my car is at port but what doesn’t make sense to me is why did he agree on a date for me to collect the car this week? Something seems fishing and why are Mercedes-Benz emailing me with order number and it’s at dealship ? telling me great news? They have found my car ? thank you for all your help

Did they loose your car? or were they mean to say, we have found you a car, it’s at the port and needs to be transported to the dealership, which may take 3 or 4 weeks, with a handover date to yo in April? Did the salesman mistakenly think the car was with the dealership, only to correct his mistake after you had asked for a handover date this week or realising the car they thought they had was indeed for another customer, thus bursting your bubble knowing you won’t have it now till April. Or is there something Fishy going on!

Perhaps pay a visit to the dealership in person and ask whats going on face to face.

That’s the trouble with cars, so easy to loose!

Is it a new plate in April or something? Start of a financial year maybe? Have they damaged it and it has gone for repair??

I wouldn’t trust any car salesman, secondhand or otherwise. Can you pay them a visit?

New plate comes out March 1st, so something is definitely off

Yes that’s what I was thinking. Saying it takes a while for checks once or before it leaves port or the showroom one or the other. First email says great news you’ve found your car. Second emails says  your order is in progress. Don’t want to sound ungrateful as I really am for this help, plus the salesman was helpful and truthful on waiting times because the car market on making mobility cars ,from the beginning so I have to be fair. But the emails from Benz got my hopes up !

Like others, I’m confused by the use of the word ‘found’, unless you had just ordered and they subsequently found one in the correct colour and spec that was already built, or maybe was another customers cancelled order?

Also, I also didn’t understand the comment “ I have emailed him for some information on the car so I’m able to park outside my property”. What information did you seek and how would the dealership be able to answer this? Apologies if I’m being thick!

Mercedes are strange to deal with, you go to the dealership and the dealer requests a car to be built to your spec, you then get an email at some point later to say they have found a car, which your dealer then needs to order. Make sure at this point to get the vin number, and get your dealer to add it to the Mercedes app for you, when they have done this it seems to be assigned to you. From this point it should be about 5 weeks or so to get to your dealer.

Mine should be at the dealer 6 march so cannot wait

Yes I did all of that at the dealership, do sounds about right then . I though the email we have found the car, but Mercedes explained what you just said. Thank you for your help everyone
