mileage allowance

Does anyone know how this works? I know you have an allowance of 20,000 miles per year, but lets say I did 22,000 one year 18,000 the next and when I returned the car it had less than 60,000 miles. how would they charge me for going over the 20,000 mile PA limit? The reason for asking is we have just extended our lease for another 2 years, 5 years in total. does that mean when the car is returned it must have no more than 100,000 miles on the clock regardless of how many miles I do during the 2 year extension.

Hum, Ian I have searched motability on your question. Not much comes up regarding excess mileage.

Though I would suggest that the mileage would be cumulative. So long as you don’t exceed 60k at the end of your 3 year lease.

If you chose to extend your lease to five years, then it seems reasonable that year 4 and 5 would give you an additional 40k.

Best bet is to discuss this with customer services. Just to be clear.

Please post back with what they say on this.

pretty sure its cumulative so 3yrs under 60k ok over 60k costs.

extend to 5yrs 100k becomes the benchmark.

it is overall but no point in looking up the actual wording as it also says you are only granted an extension if mileage is below 15,000 and we all know thats not the case.

The mileage allowance is 60,000 miles over a 3 year agreement. Any additional miles will be charged at a cost of 5p per mile. For 5 year agreements, the mileage limit is 100,000 miles.

If you exceed your mileage allowance before the end of your contract we will send you a letter giving you more information of your next steps. Any further queries about the content of the letter can be discussed with our Customer Services Team or if available, use Live Chat to talk to an Advisor now.

                Hi

Re the 15,000 miles limit for a 2 year extension, our car had covered just over 21,000 miles when we asked for the 2 year extension.  As things now stand due to covid-19 if we keep the car to its new hand back date we will have had it for just over 6 years.

Keeping fingers crossed the VW ID3 will make it onto Motability in time to order one for March 2021.

                    0.05 x 60000 = 3000 if its still 5p per mile
