MG HS a small SUV?

I noticed in passing earlier when searching for Large SUVs on Motability, auto, petrol or hybric, auto… the MG HS didn’t show up. I have to include small SUVs in the search options to see it.

Seems odd, as the MG HS is the same sort of size as those in the large (according to Motability) class.

There is a very slight chance that, if nothing better comes ont/back the scheme by March, that we’ll order a MG HS Trophy auto. Far from our first choice, but we might be forced into it.

Current: MY24 Renault Austral Iconic FHD.
Ordered 5/2/26: Chery Tiggo 8 'Summit' ICE
      Previous Motability cars:
      2013 Ford Focus estate auto.
2016 Vauxhal Zafira 1.4T SE Auto.
2019 Ford Kuga Vignale 1.5 auto AWD. (Ext lease)

Brother has one, gave up 40 years of company cars after his son became eligible for PiP. Reckons its alright, which is not as bad as it sounds seeing as his daily drivers for the past 20 or so years have been his E class mercs and his wife’s Lexus (she still has a UX, won’t drive anything but a Lexus…).

I’d be tempted, given their low AP and highish spec.

In life, it's not who you know that's important, it's how your wife found out.

For once, Motability have got the classification right with the MG HS then, as it is a small SUV, as are almost all the other SUVs that Motabilty class as ‘large’. Motability seem to use completely different classifications to the motor industry, in that they exaggerate the size of all their SUVs by one or even two classes!

I would class the HS as a compact SUV!

I would class the HS as a small to medium SUV – not a large. But all of what Motability class as Large SUVs are no more than medium at best *sigh*

As far as I know, there are no large SUVs on the scheme and only one mid size SUV, the Mazda CX-60. All others are in the small / compact category, in spite of what Motability call them ?

Large SUVs are things like BMW X5, Volvo XC90, Land Rover Discovery, Range Rover Sport etc. Many years ago a few of those were actually available through Motability, but sadly no more.

                    Volvo XC90, Kia Sorento etc.

The HS is at the larger end of the mid sized group at 4574mm long.
