Hey everyone hope you’re all well

i have a family member who’s ordering their first motability car, they’ve decided on the Kia sportage gt line s plug in hybrid

its a good price for this day and age with the spec you get with the car, they’ve test drove it and are happy with it

 

my advice to them is to go for it as when you’re happy with the car and price it’s a no brainer

also there are 12 models ready for pick up in 2 weeks, i told them they could wait to the end of June to order that way you get to see what happens in q2

 

their issue is the new facelift is coming out soon but we all know usually with facelifts it’s removed off the scheme then added on a later date for usually a higher price

 

ive also seen people on the forum who’ve done a factory order for the current model but are then given the new model

 

any advice for them? Thank you

If he’s happy with what’s on offer, he should get that car.  If anything changes and he gets a facelift version, it’s a bonus.  There’s always a deal of risk around waiting to see what a new quarter brings, with knowledge of an upcoming facelift, I’d be very cautious about waiting.

When sister brand Hyundai face-lifted the Tucson (it was a very heavy facelift interior wise, more like a new model), there was no gap before it was introduced and in fact the APs dropped agains the pre facelift model!

The facelift model is not due in the showroom till later this year

The current Sportage PHEV is a steal at it’s current AP

The interior of the facelift remains much the same, except, it gains a HUD, a redesign of the air vents and the steering wheel is now 2 spoke. There are more subtle changes on the exterior with th new DRL’s perhaps being the most prominent change.

Funnily enough, I’ve just ordered the Sportage PHEV GTLS a few hours ago.

Currently have the MHEV version and can’t wait to get rid. The problems with the MHEV (clogging particulate filter and dire mpg), shouldn’t occur with the PHEV.

My heart was definitely with the Volvo V60, but it made no financial sense with the Sportage being such good value. My wife works at the top of a hilly area that doesn’t seem to get much attention from the council when it snows, so prefers AWD. It’s also a tight manoeuvre getting on and off our drive, especially when neighbours park on the road near our house.

@TheSUVguy It seems that they need to decide how quickly they want the car and how flexible they are with any potential price increases. Do note that the PHEV version of the New updated Sportage isn’t been released until quite a few months after the ICE and HEV ones. So I see no chance of getting the updated PHEV.

@TheSUVguy I’d recommend they read and follow Kezo and Glos Guy’s thread about their Tucson PHEVs as it will give good insight in to getting the most out of the cheap EV miles.

I have a self charging sportage and my dealer rang to see if I was still getting on ok with it. I have had it about 17 months but he said that when I go in for my service in January to pop into the showroom as they will have hopefully got the new model I can take for a test drive. They are expecting to get the new models mid December time if that helps.

They have nothing to lose ordering today if they are happy with the car they seen. The AP could go up by a chunk next month (Q3 prices) however it could also drop, and if it does drop and is not just a few pounds then they could ask if they can cancel then re-order the car meaning they pay the lower price.
