I surprised myself today! I went to my local Mazda dealership to have another look at the Mazda CX60 Takumi that I’ve been considering for my next car (in a couple of months time), but I found myself wandering next door to the Kia dealership. I think I fell in love, lol. They had a red EV6 GT-Line AWD that looked awesome.
I sat in it and to my surprise what looks like a sleek performance car is actually an SUV. because of the heightened battery layer on the chassis, I was able to step in and out comfortably and the seats were the premium relaxation seats which turn into beds while you’re recharging away from home. Not that you’d get much sleep because it has the highest possible recharge rate which will charge from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes on an ultra fast charging point.
The reason why I’ve started this thread is to ask whether any of you have an EV6 or have done any research on one? I need you guys and girls to make me aware of all the possible negatives, because falling in love can be dangerous.
Cheers, all.

I’ve sat in the EV6 GT Line and GT Line S, the latter was much nearer the spec of the Ioniq 5 Ultimate with Tech Pack. The lack of electric boot was a deal breaker for us, with 2 adults with spine problems, reaching up for the door after dragging ourselves around shopping was just too much. I felt the car was designed around the driver more in the Ev6 that either Hyundai, with the layout of buttons in the centre console angled that little bit towards the driver.
Realistically, they’re all fabulous cars, I can’t see any being a bad choice. Drive them all, see which you prefer as it’s always that personal preference. The long range and 800V charging will mean anywhere in the UK is accessible with ease. We even planned a return trip to the Lakes from Cornwall and only needed 2 charges, which realistically means we’d be charging when we stopped and not stopping anywhere to charge.
On Monday there’s an order going in for an Ioniq 5 Namsan, all the joys and toys of the Ultimate plus the tech pack and a sunroof (which our daughter likes to look through when driving through country lanes), heat pump and digital mirrors. Given the latter two items are £950 where they can be optioned, the increase in AP is easy to justify, the fact the dealer has one in it’s other showroom just tipped me over the edge. Apparently most Ultimate 5s with Tech Pack also come with Heat Pump, and the extra for that option isn’t on Motability’s list. I’ve test driven the Q4, Enyaq, Ioniq 5 and 6 and will have a run in the Mach E on Monday (I might even still have it when I sign up for the 5 😀 ) If you want I’ll do a write up on the Audi and Ford after that?

January 12, 2024 at 8:59 pm #254894@kezo isn’t that a 6?
On closer inspection, it’s not a 6 but the 5s are white screened. I think I’d prefer the black screens, is that a physical modification or software update?

No mate, its the 5. The 6 hasn’t got the speaker grill type thing at the end of the cluster!
Its an overlay to cover the white surround or the complete screens and you can get the side mesh panel as a seperate item.
The carbon fibre bits is another mod.

Are Motability cars allowed to be modified like that? It’s definitely a batter look than the white screens that look a little too ‘old Apple iPad’ to me.

I can’t see why not as your allowed aftermarket tints etc. You can remove it at end of lease if you wanted.
Something I would do without hesitation if I went for the 5 as its only wrap type material and the carbon fibre bits fix onto existing trim, not as I’d be too bothered about having them.
January 18, 2024 at 1:02 pm #255665Have just arranged with dealer delivery of EV6 AWD in Pearl White for Monday 29th Jan.
Someone is going to get a really well looked after BMW X1 Sport D X drive with only 18,000 miles on it. Been a great car. Hope we will be as pleased with the EV6.

I found the ionic 5 suited my personal needs mire, bugger boot, lighter interior. My no1 is still the Enyaq suv 4×4 Sportline, again, suits my needs more. I am surprised that the ev6 AP isniw Mike’s away from the ionic5 and Enyaq
The Enyaq Coupe does have a rear wind screen wiper.

And don’t Google it either 🙂
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
January 24, 2024 at 5:48 pm #256159Tick tock, on Monday collecting my EV6 GT line AWD from D M Keith of Leeds. Told it will be 100% charged along with the Diamond Britte Ceramic protection applied inside and out. Pearl White.
Being our 1st EV looking forward to getting everything set up, have the Ohme with a 8 mtr cable, also a 5 mtr one that comes with the car. Just have to switch on the power from the meter box to go live and use the Octopus app to configure.
Will have to see how it goes!

was not impressed with the ceramic coating from my dealer. They left glue from stickers all over the car. Going to get it professionally done in a few weeks. Hope they can clean up the dealers mess.
January 25, 2024 at 7:35 am #256198Never get a dealers bolt on ceramic coating / GardX rubbish. It isn’t applied by a detailer. Zero prep as you have said. Some don’t even actually apply it and just put a sticker on to say it is.
Id send in photographs and try and get the cost refunded.
Great to hear the car itself is a beast!
January 25, 2024 at 8:42 am #256201Have never been asked previously to pay the customers invoice before collection and entering PIN until now. £4045 in this case. Doesn’t sit well with me, especially if on inspection I find anything not up to scratch.
Thoughts please……………

Or you could refuse, not sure what they could do about it.

Some dealers are requesting a hefty upfont payment for EV’s – @MFillingham got asked for £1k before they would allocate the car.
However entering the PIN prior to collection day is both wrong and probably agains’t Mb’s T&C’s. I would definately speak with Motability about this, if only to offer you some form of protection, should things not be to your satisfaction on collection day and prevent you being shafted! Perhaps request a new PIN, you can enter on the day. Don’t leave it lie for your own protection 🙂

On the last 3 occasion I have been asked for the AP via bank transfer several day before collection, but never the pin no.
Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally say the wrong thing.
January 25, 2024 at 10:43 am #256214Thanks for the guidence. Perhaps I could have explained better. The dealer is asking for my contribution whilst when pressed to allowing me to make a final payment of £1000 on collection. Being local to me am able to inspect the car on Sat (Monday handover) after they have prepared it. I do hope they have done a good job on the ceramic protection as it will make all the difference to the Pearl White paintwork.

Driving home in Leeds rush hour traffic (5.45pm) light rain it was comfortable and easy to control straight away. The dealership (Thanks Dan) spent 40mins explaining things and setting the car up on KIA Connect on my phone. Hardly had to touch the brakes on the min regen setting, very smooth to drive, my wife was pleased with it from the passenger seat. (She doesn’t drive) On 1st impressions think we have made an excellent choice.
