Any personal thoughts of the Ioniq 5 from anyone who has one?

I have had my MY25 RWD Ultimate with tech pack for almost 2 months now and love it 🙂

I home charge and mostly do short distances. Hence dont worry about battery. I start climate conditioning before each drive for 10 minutes and have aircon always on and blowing. Still I get 180 miles on full battery and its says 40% of battery went on heating.

I had one long drive for 260 mile on Christmas day. I did DC fast charge out of curiosity/nervousness. It did charge 40% battery within 10ish minutes on 350KW charger 🙂 Later calculated that I would have reached with 4% battery if I didn’t charge. So have assumed 250ish as range on safer side for my driving and heating preferences.

You would probably get better real world range from people who have done frequent long distances.

Size is slightly bigger that it looks. Wheelbase is huge and it is great for rear seat passengers. Width of rear seat is better than most cars on scheme. For me, it was an important criteria.

I’m pretty sure there’s a full review I did last year.

Anyhow, after 12 months with one.  I have the Namsan Edition purely because it was reduced in price just before I ordered.

Good:

I have the relaxation seats and they are unbelievably comfortable.  That’s one of the reasons we went for the car because both the wife and I have issues with our spines.  They’re still comfortable enough for me to drive 3 hours at a push and walk after.

The car looks a nice size from the outside but it’s deceiving with just how much room it has inside.  We’re not small people and have been in many cars where we’re banging elbows.  We have space each in the i5.

Rear seats are limo like with the leg room.

The drive is smooth, limo smooth.  On the test drive Mrs F said it was like floating and that was around Cornish back roads, which are nothing like smooth.

Range:  I get a steady 280 ish around town and fairly short runs through the summer, 240 ish in winter.  On a run I tested the range and went from Cornwall to Fleet services, 243 miles and still had 30 odd miles on the clock.  Ultra rapid charging thanks to the 800V architecture means you’re good to go in 20 minutes, so you’re charging whenever you stop and never inconvenienced by it.

bad (well, less good?):

the boot is a funny shape, like most hatchbacks.  You’ve plenty of room but not much height by the door, which means my wife’s walker just fits if I put it in right, with plenty of space for stuff going in after.

The boot door will eventually rattle.  It’s a warranty item so it’ll get fixed when you take it in for a service.

I actually miss the rear wiper but the new models have one.

Id happily have another but to get the same features means spending thousands on packs.  Which isn’t happening.  I’d recommend getting the relaxation seats, the electric adjustment is useful and they’re luxury car comfortable.

Cornish roads have been absolutely fine.  It’s actually a lot less wide than it feels, so when you’re driving if you feel you can fit, you’ve plenty of room.  It’s actually a little thinner than the Enyaq but looks bigger because of it’s lack of height.
