Looks like I’m might be taking delivery of our Ioniq 5 before Xmas 🙂 (or early in new year). I’m planning to buy below accessoriesAccessories

Anu recommendations/feedback welcome on whether it is worth going for these. For context, the car is for my 11yr old autistic daughter (she doesn’t need wheelchair). We also have a 1.5yr old toddler, for whom we will need to travel with buggy.

Also need recommendations on what I need to collection day. I’m pretty clueless. Last time, I had a car was about 15 years ago and been renting as required since. I had never purchased or leased new car from dealer and all the previous ones were second-hand.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

Out of interest, what’s the Kenwood for?

We got original Hyundai mats, just smiled nicely at the dealer and got them cheaper.  We also got a hands free CarPlay box, which makes life easier.  I bought a cheap one, just to make sure it works but will upgrade to a better quality one when this one finally gives up, which most cheap Amazon electronics eventually do.

Kenwood is the dashcam-front and rear.

Thanks for the tip, will see whether me being nice works at my dealer!

Be careful fitting the dash cam, motabilty will not allow it to be hard wired in as this is classed as a modification to the original car spec.

I think if you plug it into the 12v socket you should ok.

I bought a boot liner & the boot liner extension (covers the rear of the back seats) as a set from Aliexpress for £65 delivered. Parcel tracking says its in the UK, should be with me next week (ordered on the 29th). Hyundai are taking the mickey at charging £96 for the boot liner and £106 for the boot liner extension.

The Aliexpress items are available on Amazon UK, but at silly prices – basically they took Hyundai prices and knocked a third off. The exact same liner I bought is sold as a premium fit in the USA from BestEVMod, the Amazon reviews are, bar the usual one or two, very positive on the fit, finish and durability, both it and the OEM Hyundai versions do get some stick for the rear seatback covers falling off in high heat conditions as the velcro glue melts. Might be ok on that here in Scotland…lol.

I’ll buy the front/rear mats after I see what it comes with on collection, but we are a little more restricted there as all of the sets I could find on Aliexpress were for LHD.

You shouldn’t need the tyre guard, the car will come with a 12v inflator and a can of gunk (check before PIN – dealers often “forget” to bung it in the boot). If you use the can of gunk on a puncture, Kwikfit or your dealer will replace FOC.

I got my car mats from Mrcarmats.co.uk, they fit fantastic if you have the sliding console.

Thanks @Abercol and @cmartindale74. Looks like I would need anything from Hyundai other than dashcam. Even it, assuming it can be connected to 12v socket

                        For collection day:

Before you do any paperwork you need to see the car.

Have a good look around the outside.  You’re looking for anything that’s less than perfect, paint, mirrors, wheels, any knocks, scratches or marks should be sorted for you either before collection or you have it booked in with a firm date.

Inside, make sure everything works.  If it moves, make sure it does, click every switch, press every button and make sure nothing moves that shouldn’t.

Is it what you ordered?  Might sound odd but there’s more than enough examples of dealers making ordering mistakes and trying to give you the wrong car.  If you’ve paid for any extras, make sure they’re fitted.

Only after you’re happy with the car do you enter your pin.  The dealer might try to get that first but stick to your guns on this, you’d not sign a credit agreement for tens of thousands without seeing what you’re signing for, this is no different.  Once that pin has been entered the car is yours and any fixes are going to be harder to get sorted.
