Hello! I am new here but it awesome to see there is such a community!
The title speaks for itself: if you had a chance to change something what would you do to make it easier to order cars?
My ideal situation would be avoiding dealers and just doing everything online on Motability website. And having tracking, of course. All opinions welcome 🙂

MartinTotally agree, The dealers offer very little to the offering, Although I don’t require adaptations which I know is vital to many. However, I’d be more than happy to have a Carzo type of transaction.

PjLAllow new orders within the last 6 months of current lease. A 3 month window is a nonsense with current lead times.
June 3, 2022 at 6:19 pm #186854Order online or over the phone, which would make it more plausible to order from dealers further a field.
June 3, 2022 at 6:27 pm #186855not adverse to more online usage, but personally i prefer some ‘good’ dealer participation. not sure i would be prepared to buy a car untried. i will say tho that this is the way it will eventually go imo.
increasing the search and sign to 6 months would currently be sensible. But, if AP’s continue to increase or even stay at curent levels, then the basics of motability are dead, and unless something can be done we will be without a way for many if not most disabled to get a decent car.

June 4, 2022 at 10:47 am #186892I am more than happy to go through the dealerships, however, it would be nice to have an alternative choice of doing things remotely via motability.

Personally i do think the order process itself is almost as easy as it gets. You need to test drive/sit the car either way. What i do would like to see is more trained staff. Not some random guy that now gets called “motability specialist”, but someone who actually works for the customer, not the company. Of course that’s a pipe dream, but one can dream.
Maybe shuttle services for disabled people to get to/from the dealership (or pick-up for test drive), with the possibility of completing the order at the customers house. That could be done by the trained/dedicated motability salesman.
edit: and the legal requirement for dealerships to make stock cars available to Motability customers. That’s a selfish request from myself, but that’s something that really annoys me.

Next: we'll see what's available in 2028.June 5, 2022 at 11:54 am #187661For motability to relax the scheme entry requirements on manufacturers.
The likes of Subaru, who don’t have a car in their uk range that is below a certain value threshold, would then be able to join and offer very useful cars for people with mobility issues such as their Outback and Forester.
There must be other manufacturers that could benefit from this relaxtion too.

DaveG46Wouldn’t you rather go into a dealer, and see/touch and know what you are getting. If you order everything online and then you don’t like something or it doesn’t work for you when it turns up, you could potential be stuck with it or have to wait (probably years) for something else.
