I checked the rules before posting this so I THINK it’s within them but if not, I apologise in advance but it isn’t a link to a for sale item or anything like that, it definitely isn’t Spam, and while, technically you could get my info from it, you’d have to find me among over 160,000 other people so I think the chances are pretty slim lol.

Iain Duncan Smith is widely considered to be the founder of a lot of the recent changes to support for the disabled and is apparently in-line for a knighthood – I personally don’t agree with it and have signed this petition against it, even though I highly doubt it’ll make any real difference.

As most of, if not all of the users of this forum have experienced the revamped systems, many of which have been initiated or endorsed by this man, IF you also disagree with this honour, feel free to click below.

As i have said before, and elsewhere, I do think that awarding a title or gong to time servers , whether they be politicians, or civil servants etc, just for doing their job,  and more especially to so called personalities and TV /Film actors, demeans the whole honours thing!

However, not all people should or even can be rewarded by material things, cash or a fancy holiday etc, and therefore, there should , in any fair society, be a national/ internationally recognised award scheme to thank them for their service ? eg.  if someone has served the community etc or worked long & hard to achieve something that assists mankind then by all means reward them with an ‘honour’ ie a reward for exceptional services rendered!

For example, I know a volunteer who has selflessly given half her life to Parkinson’s UK, long before and since her husband succumbed to problems arising from the disease, personally raising over £450,000 for the charity- if anyone deserves recognition it’s her, and very many like her.

Compare that achievement to a party political or civil service  timeserver

Although I acknowledge that it will not make one bit of difference, I however have no power as to who gets a knighthood, I only have the very limited power to express my dissatisfaction, as to who has in my personal view, received or about to receive a Knighthood, OBE, MBE ect, without being worthy of it.

I can only assume IDS has received it on the bases that he has inflicted so much pain and injustice on the poor and disabled, not in my opinion the qualities that should be rewarded.

I also agree with the previous comments that if you have to make these awards, then it should be to people who have unselfishly given up their free time and dedicated their lives to improving other citizens quality of life, without personal financial reward’s, not to showbiz, sports, or well paid politicians who have made an income doing what they want to do and especially not to business people who have financed politicians and political parties or even charities at the expense of not paying tax, (which pay’s for hospitals, schools and welfare). This is an option not open to the working class who have to pay their taxes by PAYE at source.
