While I still have the loan car I forced myself out this morning to try and see what’s available. As some of you now my PCP Yet was written off 2 weeks ago, this ended the lease I’d just extended so I needed to find a car pronto.
I’d had a Tiguan on order with JCT600 (with the £600 off the AP offer) since February but with no sign of it actually being built I rang around. Lookers in Newcastle said they had one shipping over, no discount but at least no wait without a car until August or September. So the JCT application was cancelled from Motability so Lookers could put there order in its place. 2 days later they rang me and they’d basically lied and didn’t have a car at all.
So, now unable to un-cancel the JCT order I have to wait until July 1st and start all over again.
This mornings trip was very hit and miss,
Renault Kadjar – Can just get into it but no stock and no idea when there may be. They were however very keen for me to buy a Koleos at over 3x the AP!.
VW Tiguan – Went to my local dealer (who is useless) and couldn’t even get parked within 100yds of the place. All the disabled bays were full of stock cars trying to sell them.
Seat Ateca – Local(ish) dealer, no parking but parked on double yellows about 75yds away using my blue badge!. Had to wait 20mins to see someone but he has 3 Xcellence Lux in stock (all white!) tried one for size and it fits! just not as nice as the R-Line Tiguan I wanted! but it’s an option.
Ford Kuga – Local(ish) dealer I’ve used before, very helpful, plenty of parking! Unfortunately 5-8 weeks from ordering so could be 2 months without a car.
My cancelled order Tiguan is showing as “In transit” but that could take a few weeks at least. JCT have said the car is still reserved for me but obviously no £600 discount and the AP will be whatever it is on July 1st, it even no longer be on the scheme as VW are ceasing production while they re-fit the factory for the face lift version due out later this year.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
