I’m getting fed up of waiting for a delivery of a vehicle already, I only ordered 18th Aug, I know the virus thing is causing mayhem however it seems people are waiting ages..
Im thinking is it worth it Christmas coming soon, giving another excuse, then it will be trying not to spend any AP.
Its already cost me a good few quid hiring cars for a few days here and there for hospital and the shopping glad of the motability allowance.
I can’t help thinking yes the scheme is great once your on it, but this waiting is a total pain.
This is the first time around for me.

When we first joined the scheme 14 yrs ago, we found a stock car (but had to get a slightly different colour) dealer rang round and bartered a deal to swap their wrong trim stock car for another dealers car coming in on the next ferry.
We had a private car at the time so we weren’t really desperate for one straight away, after that as you already have a car the wait times aren’t as much of a problem as you just extend the current one.
Would imagine it being a nightmare waiting without any car,
October 6, 2020 at 3:52 pm #126127Thanks for the reply Noel, my private car (owned for 14 years) got written off outside the house as we were shielding.
dpd driver over the road coming off his drive spilling coffee all over himself apparently, so we decided to go in for a new one after the worsening condition.
So 14 years in the same car makes me totally out of touch.
Also the car before that 11 years owned.

Allamwhen I ordered my Tiguan, I was waiting 10 months, March 2018 till January 2019. A few times I thought of cancelling but I would then have to start the process all over again.
October 6, 2020 at 5:29 pm #126136@ajn with the length of time that you have been waiting, you really should, if you have not already, get in touch with motability customer service, to see what they can do to help you.
What car have your ordered by the way ajn?

Previous car:Peugeot 308 GT Premium 1.2 Pure tech Petrol.October 6, 2020 at 6:46 pm #126147Joss tbh the dealer did say worst case would be Oct early Nov, just out of curiosity I sent an inquiry.
Got a reply stating end of Nov early Dec, however it seems on here people waiting a lot longer. It may be only a motability customer to sales but it’s our way of getting about, and at the end of the day we are paying to do so.
Volvo xc40 inscrip pro auto.

AnonymousI can’t imagine waiting 6-10 months for a car – any car. That model could be obsolete by the time it arrives lol Must be 1000’s of stock cars of all manufacturers, shapes and sizes to suit even the most discerning of tastes, available within in matter of days. I got the car I wanted, in the trim I wanted, in the colour I wanted, from order to delivery in 10 days.
October 6, 2020 at 8:07 pm #126163Some times if you need something quick then your choices maybe somewhat limited to what can be supplied quickly and for someone joining the scheme that’s what i would suggest looking for and asking dealers about.
If you want something specfic then you may have to wait as everyone does. My current car there was only 3 available in the uk in the spec and colour i wanted back in jan for mid april handover and no build slots the dealer got one of those and held it for virtually 3 months and then covid came along so middle of jun i got it. or i would have had to order something else or in a different color or spec to get it for the handover.
If it’s a big issue not having a car then you need to speak to motabilty and the dealer and cancel the order look for something you can be in in 7 to 10 days.. but it will be for 3 years and i dunno you may need and still want the one you ordered for some reason. Your not actually really a customer yet till you pickup the car and hand over your pin. lucky for me when i first joined my old private car was still going, so drove that around till the nissian qq arrived, which was no more than 2 weeks and was one of the reasons i orderd it.

AzzyUnfortunately sales to the general public have to wait too, my sister is currently waiting for her x3 20i, ordered last month with the dealership having a build slot, my other sister took a brand new car from stock x4 40i so only had to wait 2days minimum from ordering until collection (she was working so took a week for her to collect).
the longest I’ve had to wait for a Motability vehicle is 9months, that was also my first one but had another car though (private).
with factories not running at full capacity it’s going to be a long wait for many, I know that if the dealer didn’t have a build slot for my sisters x3 they were quoting a March/April delivery

ZoeIt all really depends on the car. Mitsubishi for example have cars in the country and its only a few weeks wait. If you are ordering a stock car its quicker if you are ordering one to build then the wait time if generally 10-12 weeks with covid making things worse. The wait will be worth it in the end and unless you can get a stock car it’ll be the same issue of you cancel and order again. Maybe try and find the car you want that’s in stick somewhere it’ll be quicker.

ajnThanks for the replies and insight to stock cars that I had no knowledge until now..
Maybe the dealers should make the soon to be customer aware that stock cars can be quicker for delivery to people to whom it would benefit.
Please understand that some here have never been disabled until recently, NNever had to claim a benefit, also never set foot inside new car show rooms as a customer so are relying on the expert opinion of the trained to help motability sales man.
Obviously if I knew I could have got what we were ordering quicker from stock I would have.

RobertI’m on my 6th vehicle and until discovering this forum had no idea about stock cars and build ones as i always received car on exact handover date until recent one where handover date was April and just received car on Friday. I stupidly thought once lockdown was over I would just arrange handover only to be told they still didn’t have a build date if they had told me that in January when ordering I would have looked at a stock vehicle I’ll know in future.

ajnThanks for that Robert, I was beginning to think it was only me not knowing about these stock cars..
Thats why forums like this are great, it’s such a help from people who seen, been and done it..
