It has struck me reading some of your posts how much extra some of us have to pay just to get about. We are fortunate that I am a carer to my wife so we only need an SUV for her to get in and out easily. Its clear that some need many adaptations to get about and when an automatic can cost over £1000 extra it is mind boggling how much extra ramps, hoists etc must add to your AP.

The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.
Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.

I have to pay around £600 for adaptions, regardless of Motability saying there mostly free, before I even think about the AP plus of course I have to drive automatics not by choice so taken that in too I’m looking at a £1,000 plus before I even start looking looking at the other extra’s that make driving with a disability easier with the likes of auto wiper and lights and then there’s the space in a car to put an assembled pavement scooter in the back while still keeping 5 seats and it’s £2,000 for me just for a basic model.

The only hope I’ve got is a discontinued model comes up about the time I need to renew and they get a cut in AP to get shot of the model but looking at my favourites on the price list at this moment in time the VW Touran still looks affordable to me but will it be there in 18 months time.

This being disabled thing is becoming expensive. ?

Indeed the hidden costs soon mount up. I am fortunate that I just need an auto to be able to drive. It’s a shame the DWP is getting it’s sticky fingers in to the mobility reversers. That money should go first to reducing the cost of out most disabled mobility customers.
