Good evening, I’m new to the scheme and considering a Skoda Enyaq.  The problem I have is I don’t have off road parking, and the BP Pulse option for charging is very expensive compared to home charging. Does anyone know if I can have a home charger anyway?

Thanks in advance for any advice

They are (could be were by now) running a trial for a gutter type solution for those who can’t park in their own drive.  You’d probably need to have an allocated space outside your own home and a path between car and home that they can navigate.  They’ll get local council permission to install the gutter system and then will do the rest, as long as the permission comes.  If the council say no, you’re committed to a car and public charging prices unless you can get a charging solution fitted or you move.

As above, I don’t have off road parking or a drive, I do have an area outside my house where I park, there’s a footpath between my car and my front garden.  My local council (Durham) like quite a few others in the UK have piloted a scheme using KerboCharge.  If you rent your property you’ll also need permission from your landlord/housing association etc. to have a charger installed,

Baiscally you’re not allowed to run a cable over a public footpath so they cut out a channel and fit a cable gully with a folding “lid”, you lift it to drop in the cable to the car and it shuts covering the cable and prevents anyone tripping over it.  My council charged me £300 to fit this, after I had it fitted Ohme agreed I was able to have a charger fitted (being done this Tuesday).

Here’s a photo showing the fitted gully running from my property through the footpath and to where my car parks.

KerboCharge are now members on this forum, if you post a message starting with @kerbocharge they will be notified of it.  Here’s a link to their website, https://www.kerbocharge.com/
