SirogI spoke to a claim Manager yesterday who said my wife would be suited to a Mid Size SUV. But due to the new quarter prices on the 1st January she advised to wait till next week where she will compile a list of suitable Mid Size SUV’s to look at. Has anyone had a similar list and could share what cars were on it . The Motability checker does not seem consistent to what is a a mid size SUV.
Thank you in advance for any help

the search tool is next to useless, the vauxhall mokka isnt even in an suv category. they class it as a medium car.
i would wait for their list then go back and explain why each one doesnt work and then explain why the one you would pick does work.
December 29, 2022 at 3:47 pm #203737I prefer to use motaclarity when searching, though they can be slow updating on new quarters.
Mid size SUV’s Include the Qashqui, Tuscon/Sportage, Ariya, Kuga etc. Sometimes Mb will put vehicles in the next catorgory up, for example they will class the Tuscon/Sportage/Qashqui as a large SUV when in reality they are medium (mid) size.
Anything on the scheme that takes your fancy?

SirogThe Skoda Karoq is by far the most suitable for her needs but I suppose we will have to wait and see

Didn’t I reply to you on your other thread with some tips to push for the Karoq if its not offered?
My memory is not what it use to be especially after a drink 🙂

SirogYes you kindly did. I told her that we extensively have tried a lot of vehicles and the Karoq was the most suitable for her to get in and out of and also the SEL trim had comfortable seats for her. She was very nice but said seat comfort was not anything they could take into consideration when awarding a Grant. I think the Karoq is a mid size SUV so hopefully it’s on the list

Don’t forget the punch line if needed “you don’t want to have an early termination if it isn’t right”
Hope you get the SEL even if it means adding a little £ yourself to get it 🙂
Yes the Karoq is medium size.

SirogThanks for the advice. I hope the Karoq is on the list and still on the scheme next week. If the Karoq is on the list I think it would be the SE level, Which I understand but if the AP goes up

Don’t forget if the difference between the SE and SEL is no more than 50% you can add upto 50% if your funds allow.

SirogSo have I understand it correctly. They say you can have a Sportage, Tuscan, Qashqai or Karoq. You could choose any one of those cars and they give you a Grant for the base spec model whatever the AP is

If grants advice car a, b or c and you want car d, you can choose car d as long as it is no more than the grant offered plus 50%.
for example yur grant awarded is £2000 you can add a maximum of 50% (£1000) out of your own funds on top of the grant award.
Its hard to say what the grants team will award. You may be lucky and get the model and spec you want awarded to you, or by adding ontop of the award upto 50% yourself, may get you in the model spec of your choice. Other times grants have awarded the car with the cheapest AP in the category awarded.
I would like to hope with sky high AP’s you will beable to get the car of your choice.

SirogThanks again for the advice, the difference is only £200 between the SE and the SEL at the minute so we are keeping our fingers crossed.

December 31, 2022 at 6:26 pm #204005@Sirog A dealer in NI has put some Q1 prices up Karoq DSG SEL £1995.

£1495 in manual ?
Don’t forget the 50% rule if your offered the SE you can add upto £750 yourself, which will see you in the SEL for £500 if your funds allow.
