I love a gin and tonic get the Gordon’s cans in Tesco around £1 each
April 7, 2020 at 2:16 pm #111271Martino, the lady behind you in Asda was repeating yet another piece of disinformation that abounds on Twitter.
This is one of the most stressful times in our history …. the government are not going to ban alcohol as it is a proven stress buster.

MaccaWho says its not essential ???
Tough times and all that eh.
April 7, 2020 at 7:21 pm #111290After a lovely afternoon in the garden (still planning the makeover) and being 4 cans of cider in, I feel I should address this thread from an impartial point of view.
What a load of Garbage! Lol
April 8, 2020 at 7:09 pm #111389If you’re a functioning alcoholic it is essential, unsupervised and unmanaged withdrawal can be fatal.
April 9, 2020 at 9:59 am #111413?? Good one this. Goes alongside being jailed for being in your garden & being fined if you’re tested but it turns out to be just a cold.
I doubt Tesco would be allowed to sell contraband in any case. ??? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?

RichardSome people use alcohol as a crutch therefore it is essential to them. It could be used to prop up someone’s mental health too.
An alcoholic it certainly is essential without it they’re going to get very sick fast.
This is the problem everyone sticking their noses into everyone e km ses businesses. If these people just focused on what they need this rubbish wouldn’t get repeated.
It’s like the Mail whining about people buying paint from B&M as not essential, would they rather people did that they stayed home & painted etc or would they rather people broke the lockdown?

OlpkIf you read the legislation it does not stipulate what an essential item is therefore the police could not dictate what you can buy.
If the government has allowed off licences to open then they have set a guidance on alcohol which would add weight in court.
You can go and buy DIY stuff for the upkeep of your property as the legislation states you can.
The legislation also does NOT state you can only leave your home once a day for excercise. You can go as many times as you like.
The legislation also doesnt state you cant travel to somewhere to excercise.
The confusion here is was has been stated by the government as common sense has not been fully mandated in the law.
Dont get me wrong I’m not justifying anything and fully support all restrictions.
What I dont support is people spouting what the rules are to other people when the law doesnt actually cover it.
The police themselves are overstepping their powers in places which should never happen.
And just as a side note, if your stopped while your out and about, you have the right not to say what your doing or where you are going to any police officer.
April 10, 2020 at 5:26 pm #111496Does that mean I can drive to the river side 10 miles away and have a walk at the side of the river with my walking stick ?
April 10, 2020 at 5:49 pm #111498Saw a copper trying to open the drivers door on a car he had pulled over and the guy inside shaking his head and pointing to his face (he had mask and gloves) and the policeman just going red in the face and yelling, the guy in the car did a kind of “what now” shrug/gesture and was then just waved away by a clearly frustrated officer, I had to look away as he came back to his car as I didn’t want the same palaver if he saw me laughing.
April 10, 2020 at 6:44 pm #111501And this is the reason why our death rates per population are the 2nd worst in the world.
This Government have truly messed up big time.
April 10, 2020 at 7:13 pm #111502My, those are bold statements to make, Elliot. Do you have any evidence to back them up or is it just your opinion?
April 10, 2020 at 7:17 pm #111503
April 11, 2020 at 4:05 pm #111529Sorry, I meant to say 2nd worst in Europe. Only France has had a higher daily death rate.
April 11, 2020 at 4:24 pm #111530A quite meaningless statistic, Elliot. Might be better to go here:
https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
and see the figures that matter. Look at the total deaths per million population. And then tell me we are second worst.
April 11, 2020 at 5:24 pm #111537
brydoThis isn’t the time to get into the government’s handling of the crisis but the time will come and questions will need to be answered.
April 13, 2020 at 5:28 pm #111626
SaintsmanI check on there every day, great info, not just for Covid.
As far as number of deaths by population goes I worry about Belgium, a high daily rate for a country with only 11m
April 13, 2020 at 5:32 pm #111628I’m worried about Sweden
