JonWondered if anyone else is stuck and can’t make a decision? I suppose in years past there just a couple of cars that fit my criteria and the decision was always obvious. I don’t need advice on what to choose just wondered if anyone else was at the same place?

ajnYES Jon..
I would change but the AP for anything up-to or bigger than our xc40 imo is to expensive for a lease car..?
However as mentioned we have transport now (Volvo suv) so extremely greatful to the scheme…
Before that we went almost a year without transport due to waiting times & no fault private (Volvo) car being written off and was hiring cars as & when needed..
So in a way it’s nice to even have the decision to of change to contemplate..
Renewal date for us Nov or Dec ?

RogerWilkoFir me, as every change, I have a set of cars I’ve looking at and before I need to order (October) I will whittle them down, but with the current lead times, this might factor into my decision as well. Plus tgere may be other cars that appear which will be added to my personal list.
Going to 9ne big day to look at a couple of my chouces next week
May 9, 2023 at 10:51 am #221011I think most of us get to a point where it’s not an easy choice, but as above, start looking about 6 months before end of lease.
Keep an eagle eye on here to see what other users are finding is available of problematic.
I’d pretty much narrowed it down to one car (Maxda CX5) then when I was able to order the April AP had gone up by £800 🙁
Luckily the Ford Kuga FHEV’s AP dropped by £800 so as I can fit into both it was a pretty obvious choice at that point 🙂Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
May 9, 2023 at 12:45 pm #221014I think its more difficult now, than its ever been Jon.
My advice, if you see something you like and within your budget go for it, as whats whats here today maybe gone tomorrow. One quarter you think AP’s are dropping or leveling out, the next quarter can then see significant increases.
Delivery times vastly vary between manufacturers and the type of vehicle you want Its also worth checking with dealers, to see if they have your chosen vehicle in stock or on order they would allow you to put your name to.
May 9, 2023 at 4:59 pm #221033I know exactly where you’re coming from.
I’m an autistic accountant, so I’ve lists. I have comparison lists in Excel for features I would need/like/want and the cars that I feel might fit those needs. That list originally wasn’t very long as most cars that were even remotely suitable weren’t on the scheme but that changed for the better (or worse if you’re indecisive).
So, I’d start with recognising what I’d want, what is an absolute essential must have and what might make a difference in deciding between one and another. Then pick cars that match and start to whittle them down. Once the list is not huge, start going around the dealerships, see what dealerships and cars you like (remember you will have to deal with the dealership throughout the time you have the car). Then you have a list of cars you want to test drive. Hopefully that will get you down to one or two and after that you can be as pedantic as you like to cut it to one.
I'm Autistic, if I say something you find offensive, please let me know, I can guarantee it was unintentional.
I'll try to give my honest opinion but am always open to learning.Mark

JonThanks for all your comments – helps to know how others move forward. Planning to go and look at a Mazda CX5 , Kuga and XTrail over the next week. I think it’s easy to forget the ‘what you like best’ factor and get too focused on the different criteria and features.
May 9, 2023 at 10:44 pm #221048Much the same list I had 🙂
X-Trail too expensive for what you get.
CX5 very nice (Exclusive Line) but now expensive and not great fuel economy.
Kuga FHEV (Vignale) nice £800 drop in price, heated windsreen, heated leather seats front and rear and heated steering wheel, good fuel economy reports.
Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

Daf@Jon
Totally empathise with you. I am due to change in November and have narrowed it down to 2 main contenders, Skoda Enyaq and Hyundai Ionic 5. But then the VW 4 & 5 could also be considered as well as the Nissan Ariya. I’m not complaining it’s great to have such a good choice 0f large EVs with a good range. I’ve seen lots of comparisons online etc but I suppose it all comes down to personal choice. Being honest if it wasn’t for the scheme I wouldnt be considering a car costing £40k to £50k so whichever I choose it’s a winner.
I do like to see the kind of analytical breakdown by @MFillingham, keep up the good work. I keep referring to the “High end EV” comparison to fine tune my choice but one day it’s the Skoda a d next the Hyundai! Still as I said great to have such good choices. My big worry is that if the likes of the Kia EV6 or Genesis GV60 arrive next quarter it will be back to the drawing board!!
