Just a heads up. If you go on to the Ford web page it’s possible to book one of these for a 48 hour test drive even as a Motability customer. I’ve done it today as I’m interested to see what it’s like.

I’ve sat in one, it surprised me with how comfortable it is. It’s also the only car of the EV SUVs that I could get in without bending my leg, which is useful when the knees are arthritic.
If the higher spec models were on the scheme I’d be very interested.

I’m the same as yourself in that if the next model up was on the scheme I would definitely be interested. I am going to give it a try for 48 hours in the hope it will happen.
November 18, 2023 at 5:04 pm #247497Will you be given the Select model or an higher trim model to try.

November 18, 2023 at 9:13 pm #247528Never thought I would see the day the Mustang was outdone bhp wise by a smart car (smart #1 268 bhp v 265 Mustang)

But, thats because the Mustang is the entry level one lol.
Its not a real Mustang anyway in my books 🙂
November 18, 2023 at 10:33 pm #247540When the other cars in my shortlist include electric seats, heated and ventilated plus electric boot which all are essential now, the Mach E just doesn’t make the grade, however, go up one model and I’d get all I need plus it’s got the longest range of all SUVs thanks to that huge battery.

Its getting difficulter by the quarter finding all those at an exceptable AP, which many will deem a necessity rather than a luxury. As for venitilated seats, there even harder to get, apart from the usual Korean manufacturers.
Where are you, in choosing your next car?

My list right now is Ariya Evolve, Ioniq 5 Ultimate tech, Ioniq 6 Ultimate. For comfort and ease of access the Mach E is up there but it falls short on specs.
Skoda have successfully deselected the Enyaq. 😉

Don’t forget the Ariya Evolve is only 63Kwh 250 miles. The Ioniq 5 would suit but, doesn’t get heatpump as standard. The 6’s seats are high enough really but, the roofline is lower than the Mache E
Not interested in the new Kona ultimate 319 acclaimed miles and comes with heatpump as standard. The last model was super effiecient match or surpassing WLTP figures by the Kona guys on here?

The Kona charging is right on the nose, a real pain when you have to reverse into the drive and park 5m from the charger. The rest I can get the lead to the charger, although the Ariya might be a bit of a stretch.
As you know I’ve sat in a “6” and it’s much more accessible than I expected plus it can do all I need from it. I will need to ensure I can reverse its rather long body into the drive.
I have my assessment call next Monday after which I have to wait for the DWP to process and upgrade my entitlement. Then I can test drive and order something.

🤞 for you
With the 6 being perhaps a bit to long my concern is its a nigtmare to squeeze into an on road parking in my local town the majority of the time and would mean paying to use the multistory, which is a distance from the town and chemist.

There’s a review where the reviewer parks in an on street space perfectly. With 360 monitor plus the turning agility it goes in rather well.

Sorry my error but, I refering more to the distance between the two already parked cars is often to tight with my Tucson 🙂

One thing that is confusing me Mark is EVdatabase, in that they suggest a 305 mile real world range but, are basing it on the smaller wheel version 382 miles.
November 19, 2023 at 2:47 pm #247683Not sure where you get that? I can see the 305 and there’s 2 different WLTP ranges of 382 and 335. I’m guessing one for each wheel size?
City – Cold Weather. 285 mi
Highway – Cold Weather. 220 mi
Combined – Cold Weather. 255 mi
City – Mild Weather. 445 mi
Highway – Mild Weather. 290 mi
Combined – Mild Weather. 355 miTheyre all indicative figures anyway, we all know how heavy footed we are can make a huge difference.

Must be me confusing myself under the energy consuption section further down the page and thinking how can both the 382 and 338 mile range acheive an average of 305 miles!
I’m going back bed lol

Do you know when you’ll be getting your test drive? I’d be interested to hear the results although I’m sceptical of Ford adding more models any time soon.

November 19, 2023 at 6:41 pm #247736My first interest is what model Elliot gets to test drive and then, what his overall thoughts are compared with expectations.
November 20, 2023 at 7:51 pm #248807Well I have an update. My local Ford dealer called me today and was full of excuses as to why they won’t be giving me a 48 hour test drive. First excuse was the demand has been overwhelming and the car is fully booked. My wife checked on her way home and just like it always is, the car was sitting outside the dealership after they’ve closed. Second excuse is they are putting too many miles on the car and don’t want to let it out until they have a replacement, which contradicts excuse number one.
This is the same dealership that huffed and puffed when my son asked them to unlock the demonstrator so he could sit in it to see what it was like.
Will be interesting when Ford head office call me and ask how I got on with the car.
November 20, 2023 at 7:55 pm #248808That’s disgraceful, although not entirely unexpected. I’d put money on them waiting for a retail customer first. No doubt there’s some fine print disclaiming availability and/or dealership discretion.
As you say, it’ll make for an interesting conversation with Ford if they follow up.

November 20, 2023 at 8:33 pm #248812As Mark says, it absolutely disgusting pitiful escuses. I take it, thay you booked the test drive as a retail customer and not as a Motability customer.
I only hope you get a call/survey re the test drive from head office. If you don’t I’d be emailing them!
Have you thought of trying another dealership?
