      As Title suggests, really.

Aside from personally checking and signing for the vehicle – What should I expect and how long may it take?

I’ve heard massively varying things from family members, so thought I’d ask for some experience here

      Thank you

For myself handover has always been about an hour but in the months leading up to ordering and collecting I’ve read online manuals and brochures so many times I know more about the car than the saleperson does so don’t need to be told what switch does what.?

Just give me the keys and I’d be on my way, says I. ?

When I picked my Mercedes up a couple of weeks back I was all done in 45 minutes it would have been less but I got side tracked by a AMG GLA45, what car you picking up?

Please remember Not to give, or enter your motability PIN number until you have checked the car. make sure it is what you ordered.

Thanks Joss – I wonder how common it is that the trim level isn’t quite what it should be?

I’ve found it useful to explain before handover that you will need 20 minutes with the car before entering the pin. Tell the salesperson to go off and relax, you’ll give them a shout when you’re done. No stress of anyone lurching over you and feeling pressured to going quickly. Anything you spot can be agreed to being repaired/rectified at a later date and you can still enter the pin, but this way you don’t run the risk of being left with a problem you notice the next day and having a hard time getting it proven it was there before.

The way some dealerships run through pre delivery inspection is shocking and I’ve often noticed marks on the paint or a scuffed alloy that can be easily missed by a customer at the time. Take the 20 minutes is my best advice.

                    I’d echo Tim’s points above.

I pick up my new car tomorrow morning & I always arrive 15-20 minutes early in order to have a good look around the car which, nine times out of ten, is parked up outside the dealer’s showroom doors. I only worry when they say “I’ll just go and get the car from around the back” and never enter my PIN until I’ve gone over the car with a fine-tooth comb!

This is one example that one of our members is going through now. https://forum.whichmobilitycar.co.uk/forums/topic/disappointing-handover/

Thanks all, I think I’m definitely going to take the tips of arriving a few minutes early to have a nosey and/or make a definite point to have some time overlooking the car.

I picked up my car at the beginning of March and he handed me the keys, said they couldn’t go through the features of the car because of covid and that he would enter the pin himself as mobility had sent them the pin number electronically.
