How long do you have to give a dealer to fix a car?

It all started with faulty rear drive assist blocked, then they put a new part on and brought up another fault

all Tyre pressure monitors faulty along with the original fault, then they put on another new part and that stopped the rear cameras working along with the other faults.

So i rang motability and the person i got through to said put up with it till they fix it its nothing serious but my carers refuse to go in the car as they say its all the safety features and there must be something more serious wrong with it.

just to add it is a 7 month old mghs and problems started as soon as i collected the car

I suggest you ring Motability “again” and hope you speak to someone else!

Be firm telling them its being going on since you have collected the car and its been in the garage x amount of times and both you and your carer have now lost trust in it and your carers refusing to drive it!

If that gets you no where put a complaint in.

If you still get no where escalate to the CEO dept.

We had a number of problems with our previous Motability car – a Volkswagen Tiguan. The emergency brake assist was activating for no reason, including once on a motorway (when it seemed to be triggered by the shadow of a bridge) and another time in pouring rain on an A road. That time there had been a van tailgating me until a few seconds before, and if he’d still been there when it activated he would have rear-ended us.

The dealer reprogrammed it but it didn’t solve the problem. I called Motability and said to them that whilst I was a very experienced driver, I had lost confidence in the car and was fearful that it would cause an accident. As a result of that call, they agreed to an early return with no penalty payment. We would have had a pro-rata refund of the AP but, from memory, not the optional extras. In the end I kept the car but deactivated the emergency brake assist every time I started the car.

As an aside, we’ve just ordered a new car that thankfully has so much standard equipment that we don’t need to add any options, which is a relief should we need to return the car early for any reason.

@glosguy My Tig had the ‘travel assist currently unavailable’ issue where it went off every 30 seconds, I handed it back and got my money back for the optional extras as threatened to take them to small claims court for it as loads evidence online of the issue but them continuing to sell cars with it happening.

Same as you because of that I rather pay a higher AP to cover all the extras so if any issues you get it back pro rata.
