Following on @Struth, the reprts I here about the sage on coffee forums is not the quality of the coffee but the internal workings.

            I don’t mind a MD’s coffee when out and about @ajn

I was discussing coffee machines with @Struth on the £350 early gcb payment. So I said I can see an espresso thread coming, rather than to continue to hijack that thread!

The only problem is @Struth has not seen this thread yet ?

What platform you using @Struth? maybe worth pointing it out to @wmcforum.

Anyway back to the thread:-) hw long haveyou had your Sage single boiler and is it the steam power/pressure thats making you want a dual boiler. How many coffee’s do you make at the same time.

I would make 2, mainly cappuccino’s and would like enough pressure to make the milk hot rather than luke warm. Hence a dual boiler or possible heat exchanger model.

I’ve always wanted a dual boiler and sage one has lots of adjustment that many much dearer ones don’t. Many folk slag them as they are not ECM etc but they are good stuff. Mine is or was possibly about entry level and I got it on offer under £300, but it still has a pid and steams ok if a bit slowly. Only single hole and it takes a little time to get up to temp.

I may not change tho as cost of living is starting to bite.

Considering a dual boiler costs £1k plus thet certainly aren’t cheap. If I can find a good second hand one I would go that way.

Yes it would be an unnecessary splurge. The fancy oracle is a cracker too but twice price but tempting too as my mobility is crashing and burning. I do like my flat white etc. Currently struggling to walk again so if things get worse then the car might have to go. It would mean I’m totally housebound tho so really don’t want that unless it’s what it is.

I’m getting a few g’s probably next year from my Bros will. Not much but it will tide me over nicely.

I move onto pension early next year so don’t really know how I will get hit. Having looked after wife for 25 yes as a full time carer, and now F’ed myself to but before I worked all time but might not have all the credits etc.  Also if I don’t get pension credit then I can won’t get help etc.

It’s all a lot of worry I could do without.

Worst co my es to worst I’ve 50 good bottles of malt to finish myself off with.

Its sad @Struth having to look after your wife for 25yrs and then have the worry not knowing if you have the credits for a measly £185 a weak state pension. I would like to think you will get pension credit and any help that goes with it.

I’m lucky in that respect getting enough credits before I was taken ill and claiming employment benifits, but the worry of having a disabled/special need daughter later on in life through a second marriage, a mortgage albeit small and my wife unable to work due to it being 24hr care for our daughter is scary and I have another 10yrs to go before pension age.

Uurrrmm above conversation takes me totally out of my depth with the machinery, prices and opinion, however Struth I guess buying a cuppa have and will cost a fortune for me anyway, so makes sense having your own machine..

mid enjoy this yesterday the new Christmas coffee

my flat white is my lifeline i guess and my own is way better than store bought. i enjoy making them still too; and ive been doing it for more than half my life.

this is one i have.  doesn’t look much but its a very good machine, and spanking good value currently at under 300 again.

Looks good @Struth I have a gaggia clasic but would like a dual boiler or heatex machine. As we said yesterday £1k plus is alot money especially during the current situation

Both the Lelit Elizabeth dual boiler andMarX heat exchanger which is £100ish cheaper.

Its a bit chilly to go out much anyway, especially where ou are. You could look for a nearly new non folding scooter come spring. Maybe also worth checking around to see if any grants going that may help.
