After a lifetime of driving manual cars I have a test drive booked on Sunday in my first automatic. Any tips or advice on what to watch or look out for would be most appreciated.

The test is in a Corolla Sports Touring Hybrid.

Yup. Came across the VAG “auto-hold” thingey during recent test drive of a couple of VWs. “Another annoying gimmick”, I thought. For about two minutes. Thought I’d try it anyway. Was pretty quickly really frustrated that my current motor does not have it. Very useful. Bit like a no-click, buttonless, brain-free electric handbrake.

Indeed, while I was updating my Sat Nav last night I accidentaly switched mine off, confused me this morning when I drove off and the handbrake tried to stay on!.

It’s nice at traffic lights etc, just tap the brake pedal and it comes on, nice bright green icon on the speedo to let me know I’m not going to roll anywhere 🙂

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!
