Anyone else noticed an increase in charity’s knocking on your door to sign you up? We’ve had them all in the last few weeks.

I never sign up as they are professional collectors who are paid a big bonus to get you signed, too many people make the mistake of thinking these door knockers are hard working charity people doing this for the love of the charity!

I do give to charity, I support the local hospice with a monthly subscription and a couple of one offs a year, the last being the earthquake appeal a couple of weeks ago.

If someone comes to my door unexpected/uninvited that’s where they stay unless I recognise them.

I’ve had idiots looking through the glass clearly seeing me they stay where they stand till they get the message this guys not taking any notice..

ive signs deterring cold callers if they ignore it they get told politely in scots venacular to ‘please leave me in peace’

I’ve also got a sign on my door asking people to not to knock my door and use my Ring Door Bell instead – which is much easier to ignore rather a couple of big Police knocks

Nice one Winston, thats about as warm as I am with the chuggars, they just really grate with me. I don’t even give them time to speak.

I have 2 large stickers on my door, no traders, chuggers, charity bags etc etc. doesn’t work.  They get annoyed and suddenly can’t speak English when I tell them to take their plastic bags back and not to do it again!

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

I do agree struth slightly crude..

However we must take into consideration some of these callers are marching uninvited down people paths with the intent of financial gain from some people who may not really understand what they sign up too, even wrongly explained  by pushy salesmen/women..

I have no problem with people knocking at my door trying to sell me something.  After all, it’s a living of sorts and I wouldn’t do it.  I can choose whether or not to answer, and from curiosity I often do. Where’s the harm? On the other hand, if they don’t take my first “no” for an answer, they get firmly told to go forth and multiply.

I once had a pair of religious lads in shirt and tie wearing rucksacks knock looking for the previous owner. I said she’d moved out and went to close the door, one of them actually put his foot in the door frame to stop me.
