Changing my Motability car for the first time help!

I currently have my first Motability car and I am due to replace it in October this year. I am looking for a new BMW 1 series so contacted my local dealer in February before all this Covid-19 started, just to get a brochure. He suggested coming in for a test drive around May/June time. Obviously after all this Covid-19 this never happened. I got in touch with the dealer yesterday to see if a look around and test drive would be possible and I  recieved, a frankly curt reply, that I should wait until I receive my letter from motability before going ahead with arranging test drives. Does this sound correct or should I sack this dealer off and try another one? I am reading on here about people placing deposits on new cars way before I’m due to change, so I am just after some advise and help as in what to do! Thanks

Hi Chris G, Think Syntner just being stupid didn’t have a problem with Rybrook asked for test drive and it was arranged next morning. Hope all goes well.

I hope you’re doing ok there.
And good luck searching when you are able to.

? I will be remembered for nothing but had great fun doing it ?

Thanks WayneM, I know what you mean about recommendations but this one was spot on. It’s nice to share dealers and salespeople who are good on Motability. Yes maybe Sytner were just being on the safe side, and I understand that, but I did feel there was an uninterested element too it aswell. Looking forward to next week now and hopefully get the ball rolling on sorting my new car out. Yay!

                Hi there,

the Motability magazine Lifestyle  has a page to praise dealerships and salesmen who  have gone that extra mile, drop them a line (email) and ‘name and shame’ it’s one of our only times our voice gets heard by ‘bad’ dealers, if it gets out into the public, nobody likes bad press, it hits sales, hence salesman pockets, might make some of them look a little more closely at their conduct.

                just a thought

                ROY

                P.S.

I have never seen anything in this magazine relating to when to pay any Advance Payments, (too much of a grey area me thinks?)
