I got told it was due build week 27. What does this mean? Its being built this week? Then how long will it take to arrive? Sorry I’ve never really waited this long for a car so no idea really

Your car gets a build week allocated like week 27. That generally means that your car will be built in that week. There after it goes for shipping. Depending on what make of car and where in the world it is made determines how long it takes to reach the UK.

Also factor in things Like lorry driver shortages. Once in the UK it could be a couple of weeks to reach the dealership. Then a few days to a week for the dealership to prepare the car for picking up.

Or, more optimistically, it could be built (in Belgium), one week, at the dealers the next, and available to collect 4 days after that (time required by Motability) – except I can’t have it until 31st..

As a matter of interest, to some, VW have removed the ‘ sales targets’

from the dealerships for both August and September- as there are very few new VW’s in stock, or becoming available, and my guy is quoting 4-5 months delivery for a factory order ID .3

Build week 27 started on Monday the 5th. At some stage this week your car will begin it’s build. You should receive the the car in around 5 weeks. This time scale will obviously depend on where your car is built.

I’ve ordered the seat tarraco. No idea where they are being built. 5 weeks sounds very close to Sept. I am desperate for the car but do I wait for the 71 plate or just take the 21

I have just cancelled my order for a Tiguan 1.5 dsg elegance model due to being totally screwed by VW.

Ordered 29 March told mid July when ordered, more lately told build week 26, 3 weeks later changed to week 36 a few days later changed to week 38.

On top of that the colour ordered has been deleted and they changed the order from Moonstone grey to Urano grey without telling me and the original colour has now been dropped as we are now getting a model yr 22.

I said I would accept a Ginger Brown but They want an unreturnable £500 deposit which I would loose if I wanted to cancel the order due to further delays. What a bunch of shysters.

The seat tarraco is made in Germany with my seat leon the build week was spot on, in fact it was on its way to port of exit on the second day of the build week but still took 4 1/2 weeks  for me to collect 2 weeks either side that was beginning June

You’ve disappointed me Wigwam. I was looking forward to a ‘first impressions’ report on your new XC40 this evening. Didn’t realise that you had to wait until 31st. My new X1 is due that week, but I might hold on to the first week of August as I need to do some tip runs at the end of July when my daughter moves house and I’d rather use the Tiguan for that. Might leave it there, come to think of it ?
