Hi all,
I won my appeal yesterday after years and finally on higher rate mobility. My personal cars MOT and insurance is due for renewal in June and I’d like to get away with not having to do that as with 120,000 miles on it I’m not sure it’ll pass!
I’m interested in the new Astra or Mokka, (not sure as I have a small hatred of SUVs) I’m going to go by a dealership this weekend and ask if its possible.
If it’s not possible I’m tempted to wait until end of march to see if the new prius or civic goes on the scheme.
Anyway, happy news for me.

Visited Vauxhall dealer last week and was told that they hadn’t seen an Astra for weeks and that orders were not expected for 7/8 months. Others on here have been waiting for over 12 months for their cars.
Best bet in your circumstances would be to ring around some dealers and see what’s available.
Best of luck.

Congratulations on your successful appeal. Motability don’t have access to the full range of UK cars, so certainly won’t be getting the new Prius seeing as it’s not going to be sold in UK.
Hopefully the new civic will be on the scheme soon.
As @Carmad said, phone around dealerships to see if they have any available stock. Some Nissan and Peugeot dealerships seem to be more willing to let in stock vehicles go to Motability customers than other brands.
February 3, 2023 at 2:49 pm #208336I have an Astra on order, it’s been 8 months so far. So i can tell you that you won’t get one of those anytime soon.
Car History:
Ford Fiesta
Vauxhall Astra Mk6
Mazda 3
BMW 2 Series Coupe
Mercedes A Class
Vauxhall Astra Mk8 (Lease ended early)
Renault AustralFebruary 3, 2023 at 3:08 pm #208339Ooh I didn’t know the prius wasnt coming to the UK! my bad, shame really!
Just got off the phone with a toomey dealer who do a wide range of brands and they said they will get back to me with a range of options in my specifications that I could get before June.
February 3, 2023 at 3:25 pm #208340@Top8Dan Yes it is a shame the new Prius isn’t coming to UK.
In 2021 only 500 Prius were sold compared to 18,000 CHRs. Which seems a good reason not to sell Prius in UK, but I think they may be missing a trick. Based on looks alone, I wouldn’t have considered any of the previous Prius’, but the new one is finally good looking and with more and more new cars being SUVs or Crossovers, it would have been a nice addition.
February 3, 2023 at 3:32 pm #208342Yeah I think the Prius just looked way too dated in 2021, its sad the non-SUV selection is so narrow now.
I’ve always loved Civics and I think at 26 im too young to get a brand new Honda Jazz.
I was told I could get a 308 soonish which is basically an Astra but with a high AP, not sure if its worth putting it on the CC if I cant get much part exchange from my Mitsubishi Colt.

I’m 45 with a hundred and one health problems, but still feel too young for a Honda Jazz 🙂
February 3, 2023 at 4:01 pm #208344Apparently its got a much better image outside of the UK as a sporty hatch. The Honda Fit!
February 3, 2023 at 4:12 pm #208346nissan said 4-6 months for my juke i ordered at end of nov. hoping for march/april.
they were willing to put me in a stock quashqai epower or a juke petrol teckna but i wanted the hybrid.
February 4, 2023 at 7:22 pm #208396So I went to Toomey’s Basildon today and test drove the Renault arkana, 308, and Astra
Arkana drove lovely with the hybrid set up but it’s just so big! Was super worried width wise the entire time but I imagine it’s great for long trips. And not sure if I would get used to it.
The 308 felt so low and sporty, punchy, fun to drive but mpg probably isn’t amazing.
Astra felt similar if a little more comfy with the bigger wheel, but understand wait times are year+
Peugeot and Renault dealers said I should get by June if I order this month. And if it doesn’t happen it doesn’t happen. I tried.
Probably leaning towards the 308 now but I might warm up to the arkana.
February 7, 2023 at 4:59 pm #208599Just got off the phone with a Renault dealer that’s got arkanas in stock.
Apparently motability orders for Renault are assigned by head office and dealers have no say, and it’s 4-6 months at minimum sadly when there’s a good chunk of them sitting on lots.
February 7, 2023 at 5:14 pm #208601@Top8Dan have you looked at the new Qashqu namely E-Power, as your likely to get one from stock in under a month!
February 7, 2023 at 5:49 pm #208603I’ve booked a test drive for this weekend but on first impressions I’m not in love!
February 11, 2023 at 10:11 pm #209027I ended up ordering a Nissan Qashqai E-power Tekna, great car for the AP, all the options I wanted included and delivery in March.
Also, webuyanycar.com gave me a great quote on buying my car so I’m happy with the situation.February 12, 2023 at 3:50 pm #209060Smoggy
I’d seriously look elsewhere for a quote unless you are super happy as webuyanycar are so underpriced, I was selling my top spec Mazda 5 2009 with just 60k on it a couple of year back and they offered like £1800 sold it privately for £4500

Well similar cars with less mileage are going on auto trader for £1600, and they’ve offered £1900 before inspection.
I reckon they’ll take £500 off for condition but I’ll be happy to see it go for anything more than scrap value tbh. 120,000 miles on a 2011 mitsubishi colt, suspension advisories on the mot. Did me well as a first car for two years.
I also just don’t want to deal private, my friend had a terrible experience when a “buyer” turned up with 4 of his friends and threatened him to lower the price.
