As long as the dealer cancels it on their end and informs Motability you can order another immediately.

Cheers..So am i best informing motorbility as well?and clarifying it ok to go and order elsewhere?because relying on my dealer to do anything doesnt fill me with confidence.

You can check on your online account. I cancelled my order on Saturday and within an hour it was off my online account

April 4, 2022 at 1:59 pm #181785I also ordered in October 2021 with Barnley MG (avoid at all costs!). They have offered nothing in way of communication and are refusing to even give an estimate.
The car I ordered is no longer available (MG HS DCT) so I would need to order something else. Can anyone advise on what manufacturers currently have the shortest lead time for Motability? I’m sure this gets asked a lot, but I’m getting desperate

Until recently, it was korean manufacturers (Kia, Hyundai) with the shortest leading times. Short in this case is relative though.

Here are a few estimates, other than that it’s anyone’s guess.

Rene, when I use the that site it asks a bunch of questions about what spec and colour etc but I don’t see any kind of predictions on lead times etc!

Ignore my above comment. Found it.
They don’t have an option for Vauxhall tho
April 9, 2022 at 10:59 am #182346The problem i had is that a car became available, and the dealer said they could put me in that car withing two weeks. When i phoned motability as i have been offered an offsite handover by motability and also the dealer came out to my home for order which has all been accepted foe present order which has been delayed the lady told me to cancel my order with the dealer which i did and could place the new order with the car that is in stock. Now she then put me through to grants team to tell them and see if they would up my grant and the new car was a higher AP now the previous motability lady also said that she would get the team that gave me permission to have on previous order would contact me well that never happened. So i thought to hell with this stress i will stay with my present order as it was too much stress and contacted the dealer to say to ignore my cancelation. Two weeks went by and i thought again my car has still not been built and i saw on the dealer web site that they had this car in stock although i am sceptical now as it has been two weeks gone by, i decided again to call motability to find out why i was not contacted and a lady again said she did not see the previous lady’s name i gave her and that if i wanted to go for this car that maybe now still there i would have to contact my dealer and cancel the car again and although she said she would phone me back which was the next day to tell me if i could have the dealer come out to me as before she could not tell me if i could have the offsite handover again until order went though and the grants team accepted the higher AP. Now i was over one and a half hours of going round in circles saying to her that i could not Jeopardise my current order unless you tell me i can have the offsite handover as in november i was turned down for an offsite handover which i was not happy with due to the fact i had already had to have a distressing chat with a call manager on my illness why i could not go to a dealer.Anyway i persevered and complained when the following week as said i got an abrupt call from a young man telling me no i can not have a offsite handover and i said could you put that in writing please and he said no so i said i am not happy with your tone of voice and he the cut me off. Then i was so upset i phoned and said i was not happy with the way you are treating me and the lady said she would pass it on to a manager who then phoned me in two days after and said i could now have the handover at my home. Now you maybe bored by now but i am now back again with my first order as said they would not tell me if i could have an offsite handover again and i told the last lady i spoke to i am too unwell to carry this on an decided to stay with my current order so the whole rigmarole was not only stressful to me it has made me so unwell i also said can you put all that has happened into a letter and i was told again no.

Wish you luck trying to get any problems you have over to Motability in writing.
I’ve never had anything in writting personally written to me in the 13 years I’ve been with Motability other than contractual stuff that’s written by lawyers and on their terms or carefully worded stuff from their customer information pages.
I always use their contact us form that’s sort of email so recorded messaging system but they always reply by phone.
Ive never used the Live Chat system so not sure you can download a transcript of what’s been said like most companies do but yes, they don’t like putting anything in writing if they can help it and with Live Chat if like others I have used often have restrictions on time or how many words you can write.
Not sure how well letter post works with them but with stamps costing near on a Kings ransom these days its an expensive way to communicate, more so as your letter might get lost in the waste paper bin.

When i cancelled my nissan order on the phone, the sales guy was very annoyed and slammed phone down..
Took motorbility(which i thank) to intervene as the dealer at nissan delayed cancelling,so held up being able to reorder.Took 4 hours. Was very stressful as the way cars come on and off scheme,i thought i would lose out ordering new car.So im glad i cancelled nissan, as their attitude showed me that over a 3 year lease ,they would of been a nightmare to deal with.
Would of been alot easier &less stressful if motorbility cancelled the order their end,(which was the case eventually) but at first they insisted that i get dealer to do,which i still cant understand why,but all sorted now thankfully.
April 9, 2022 at 12:15 pm #182354Hi Paul, yes its a very precarious situation to be in as I too thought about cancelling my current order for a VW Tiguan and ordering a KIA Sportage as their delivery times last week were 3 months but just imagine I had with KIA delivery dates changing over night to 8 months.
I was put off the Sportage anyway by what seems to be a very small boot but tempting in every other way so luck would have it I never set the cancellation process off but had that boot been 6 inches longer I could have cancelled and reordered and be in a bigger hole that I dug myself.

still waiting for an update on my nissan order. ordered same time as yours Paul. will be phoning dealer again next week, if they are going to change mine to July/August I may end up by cancelling my order. the new sportage looked good but has come off the scheme since April 1st.
October 21, 2022 at 2:00 pm #198702It seems there is now a two tier Motability if you can afford the very high advanced payments for a DFW car, you can have the dealer visit you which used to be on Motability dealer website and order the car and have off-site handover. Now knowing that retail customers can order any car they like on finance and offer to do all this including delivery. My Dealer has come to my property which motability said i could do to order the car but when the car avives which could be six months from now i will have to phone them and again ask for an offsite handover. How many retail os disabled customers want to order a car then perhaps be told in six months sorry you cannot have the offsite now causing more stress and anxiety for me which they know about. I asked them to put all this in writing including that i now ask motability to cancel my order as it make no sense to me of anyone either legally or my MP why they are doing this to me.
October 21, 2022 at 2:21 pm #198704Sorry to here that tim. What reason have they give for now not allowing an offsite handover. It does seem rather me meen and petty though.
October 21, 2022 at 2:37 pm #198705The Strange thing is they are not saying no but that you have to go through the stress of phoning them when the car arrives and they may or maynot let you have it even though they have on numerous occasions know why i cannot go to the dealership.
October 21, 2022 at 5:04 pm #198708@tinytim Ive always collected my (daughters) car from the dealer and probably not the best to advice, although I do understand your predicament. Given the thread is nearly 7 months old, I would create a new thread based soley on your situation. Others who rely on home handovers can give uou targeted support.
I however hope this situation is sorted to your likings and dealt with promtly.
October 21, 2022 at 5:15 pm #198710Well Kezo i am unable to and not only that if a dealer has put extras on that car then they could be left with extra cost and also i could lose my deposit for the extras i have had the phone put down on me twice just because i said what i said here and there final word we cannot help you anymore?
October 21, 2022 at 5:27 pm #198713October 21, 2022 at 5:31 pm #198714Shocking tim, What has motability said?
October 21, 2022 at 5:40 pm #198715They put the phone down on me saying you have already been told that you have to wait till the car arrives at the dealer before we can grant yes or no to offsite handover which is too undecided which could be six months down the line which is ridiculous how would anyone pay for extras or order a car with this attitude.
October 21, 2022 at 6:11 pm #198721I cannot see it is worth starting a new thread when this is applicable, has anyone got an idea about the equality act they are restricting disabled for not being able to get there car i have contacted CAB but we all really need legal aid against motability.
