I’m not sure there will be many takers at such a high AP (M-Sport 35 £7499 AP, £7999 with Tech Pack).
November 1, 2024 at 1:52 pm #292708I’m not sure many people will pay the high ap. The same car (with tech pack) was £6499 when it was first introduced to the scheme last year (Jan 2024) & is now £7999.
However saying that, the 330e was very popular last year at £7999 and was removed from the scheme shortly after appearing due to high demand.November 1, 2024 at 2:06 pm #292710We didn’t want a BEV, even though we can charge at home, but we looked at the i4 as IMHO it was the best looking car on the scheme when we were last looking to change. In addition to it being a BEV, we would have discounted though, it as it felt very cramped inside and it was nigh on impossible to get in and out of the back of it without considerable difficulty and discomfort. The boot wasn’t great for a wheelchair either. I can’t imagine that it’s terribly practical for many people with disabilities, but if it ticks all the boxes and you’ve got your head around the downsides of having an EV (as well as the obvious positive of lower running costs as long as you can charge at home) then IMO it’s the only desirable car that’s been on the scheme for some time, so I’m sure that many will welcome its return. Very few private or fleet buyers go for the 35 model though, so demonstrators will usually be the more desirable (and more powerful) 40 model, so do try to get a drive in the model you’d be ordering.

It will be as popular as it was last year. People went nuts for it.
Maybe next quarter the price will drop.
Its all good, more choice, and a very popular car
November 1, 2024 at 5:00 pm #292715Waited a while on this car returning to the scheme, but yeah can’t happen for me, at the price you can expect right now… Shame. It’s awful timing for those coming to an end of their lease. ☹️
May have my info incorrect, you seem to hear of new rules every other day, but isn’t £7-8k more than somebody on benefits is allowed to hold in their bank account before deductions would start? Fair play if this isn’t an issue for people.

PIP, which is the qualifying benefit for the majority of Motability customers, isn’t means tested, so anyone who can afford the AP is quite at liberty to get one. I shouldn’t imagine that anyone applying for a grant towards the AP would stand a chance, but neither should they IMHO.

Seconded, on all points. Certainly a desirable car and great to see it back on the list, but my wife found it impossible to get into the passenger seat as the dashboard stuck out so much.
November 4, 2024 at 1:11 pm #292812Emailed a local BMW dealer on Saturday for more info and delivery times and they’ve not stopped bombarding me with calls and emails!
I think the AP is too rich, if it had the Pro and tech pack then maybe it would get some serious consideration. Anyway, I’ve never known BMW to be so eager to get me in one of their cars, I usually find its me doing all the chasing when I’ve contacted them in the past.
November 4, 2024 at 1:52 pm #292813It looks great and goes great but I doubt I’d pay that much for it 😱
I looked at it last year but as a wheelchair user I found the door opening far too small to get in/out and then to try and dismantle my chair and lift it over me and onto the rear seats.
I went for the Hyundai Ioniq 6 instead and it’s been better in every way… range, size, tech, comfort, AP cost etc although the AP for that has risen again so not as big a gap now.
However if you prefer a badge and really want a BEV then it is a good car if you can get in/out of it
November 6, 2024 at 3:52 pm #292892Has anyone ordered the i4 or enquired about delivery times? I’m guessing as it’s the facelift model there won’t be many in stock & it’ll be a factory order?
thanksNovember 6, 2024 at 4:50 pm #292895Its a great looking car, which is unusual for BMW, but the AP is too high IMO, but great to see it back on the scheme.
The only person who got all his work done by Friday was Robinson Crusoe.
Anything i post over three lines long please assume it is an article lol.November 7, 2024 at 10:55 am #292926It’s really nice to see the i4 back, I definitely was not expecting the facelift to return it seemed like a one off. Although the AP is way too high I bought the 24 model i4 (which I prefer) with the M Sport Pro pack, Visibility pack and extra individual options for £7K.
This one with a tech pack that doesn’t consist of HK is £7K with just the options that I selected it would add up to £10K+ not so great to have a facelift unless you’re fine with the M sport model as standard.
November 12, 2024 at 12:08 pm #293157No front grab handles!
As a wheelchair user I’ve noticed more and more cars wityh frameless front windows and therefore they don’t have front internal grab handles!
This is a real problem for me for getting in and out the vehicle.
Does anyone have a work around or some tehcnique I’m missing to help with this?
The BMW i4 is such an example as well as the CLA Shooting Brake.
November 12, 2024 at 9:39 pm #293187i use the sculptured bit on the rear door and put my elbow on there to get in and out my merc cla
