Autonomous Braking!

Hi all,  today whilst out and about in my Kona EV,  the car decided to brake all by itself to a complete halt,  there was a car in front driving normally 50-75 metres ahead,  I was going round a left hand bend on cruise set at 32mph (Lot’s and lots of speed cameras whee I live)  I have driven this same route thousands of times since I have had the car, in lane 2 of 2 and WHAM.  Car stops for no good reason, it was only good fortune there wasn’t any following traffic,  Rosie my dog was in the luggage compartment, yes I have a dog guard.  My dog could well have been killed and I would be looking for someone to blame.  I suffer EUPD.  Not good.

On a lighter note tyre pressure monitor appears to be faulty.  Tells me I have low pressure, all checked, nothing wrong, thought I would make sure they were all within 1 psi and went for a 45min drive all to no avail.  Now I have to go to Kwikfit and they will want to replace two front tyes as they are nearly down to wear indicators and I was hoping to save Motability replacing tyres four months before car goes back.

My Ateca does it now and again, usually just when you’d forgot about it!.  Hates cars slowing to turn off left even doing 30 with a huge gap (over 75m) between us.  Also cars slowing ahead at a roundabout, again a massive gap.  Also took a sudden dislike to a pedestriam wearing a Hi-Viz jacket one night!.

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

The car in front wasn’t braking, or turning off!  No pedestrians, no cyclists,  nothing parked,  no vehicle incursion into my lane,  absolutely no reason to brake.  Mine does the usual, got used to that.  I do know what you mean though Phaedra just when you’d forgotten about it.  RAC coming out between 7:21 and 10:21PM

My Tuscon regularly see’s shadows and ghosts before coming to an abrupt stop!

In the settings, there’s normally away to reduce the sensitivity, of the active safety systems. I have mine on the lowest setting but, it by no means stops it from happening just less often.

Our Suzuki Across will not let us reverse more than a couple of yard when the caravan is attached it slams the brake on.

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally say the wrong thing.

If you read my past posts you may well understand why I switch off most of the Autonomous features

Blindspot monitoring with steering intervention gets a tick as does tyre pressure warnings and 360 camera and braking if going to collide

Google do this do that is cool

Cruise control even regen thumbs down dont need or like it

                  47 accident free yrs later

                  if it aint broke

Thats not good mate, epecially reversing into a bay!

Like @Burgerman333 I turn everything I can off. If it can’t be turned off then they are dialled down to the lowest available setting.

I am going to look at the setting and maybe switch of the parking sensors, the caravan is fitted with a mover we unhitch the caravan and reverse/park it up using the remote control mover.

My Toyota CHR does this with the bike carrier attached. There doesn’t seem to be a way of turning it off, and the dealer is disinterested. It makes parking ‘interesting’!
