      Hi all,

Thanks for having me here 🙂
I have been on the scheme for approx 7 years and never had any problems at all.
Until i was going up the motorway and a stone flicked up and cracked my windscreen (Approx 9″) on the passengers side. Not in my line of vision at all.

So i contacted autoglass as advised by motability and i have to wait for 2 weeks before the glass is even at my local depot.
I appreciate i have a new car Peugeot e-3008, But having to wait 2 weeks seems a bit excessive. or i am just inpatient lol. I presume if the screen was completely shot i would be able to get a temp car .

Absolutely love the car by the way.

I know the risk of driving with a cracked window but i have too. I am not doing any motorway work till it is replaced.

      Moan over

2 weeks can be normal. Not great, but nothing you could do other than phoning around to see if another location has the glass in stock (unlikely with a brand new model).

Now, driving. Cars nowadays are stiff, so it shouldn’t get bigger in normal driving (unless plenty of potholes or up and down kerbs) – the main issue is, that it’d be illegal. I think 40mm or something is fine when out of view, but 9 inches definitely isn’t.

Just gotta hope that police turns a blind eye. Personally, i would probably drive, given no alternative. I’d ask MB if you could have a hire for the time, but failing that.. yeah, i’d probably drive too for the necessities.

Sucks, but not much one can do – way too large for chip repair, just gotta cross your fingers, restrict to driving only the absolutely needed journeys, and get it done in two weeks. In my opinion.

Agree with @Rene though, in the unlikely case you do get pulled over, it’s a simple case of “yes officer, it’s only just happened”.

It takes a while for the better aftermarket manufacturers to get the winscreen patterns of new/er models, so most likely be OEM, which will most likely come from EUrope.
