Audi just announced their 24MY Q4 refresh which has more power, better range etc. The 40 sport model which is the one on motability has been replaced with a 45 sport model. Has anyone ordered a Q4? I haven’t had a build date yet. Do you think we’ll still get the out of date model or will they stop building it and our orders will be changed to the new spec? Audi says you can order the new spec from the 26th September

Did they give you an estimated delivery date for the new spec?

I did like the q4 Etron when I went to look at but, I need more clarity “he thinks so”!  However, I wouldn’t put it past Audi off loading all the renaing 40 Etrons on Motability, as seems the norm by manufacturers these days.

I initially discounted the Q4 due to its lack of power but if i could guarantee an MY24 with that spec then its back on the table.

I was initially looking to order the BMW i4 as the Audi Q4 40 lacks power but when speaking to Audi dealer in the last few weeks and being informed that the Q40 is being replaced by the Q45 and that there will be a substantial increase in power, I’ve been waiting to see what happens.

on October 1st the new price list was released. The BMW i4 advanced payment has increased by £500 but the Audi Q4 40 has decreased by £1500

Audi dealer has confirmed that the Q4 40 is not available to order. I spoke with Audi dealer and Motability last week and both confirmed the same that within 2 weeks the Audi Q4 45 new model will be listed on Motability and that between them they are working out the advanced payment of it. It’s clear to see that the remaining Audi Q4 40 are being offloaded to Motability etc.

The New model Q4 45 has leather as standard and comes with lumbar support along with the up rated engine, shocks and a few other tweeks like advanced battery make the new model Audi Q4 45 very appealing to me so I’m holding out for the Q4 45 to be released on Motability which I hope will be concluded soon in the next 2 weeks

The last minor update on the q4 40 etron leather became standard but not sure about lumbar.

Thank you for clarifying this Tam. Others have been saying that by ordering a 40 they will automatically get the 45 and I was sceptical about this as, unfortunately, that’s not how Motability do things. The 45 model would have a different order number than the 40 and, possibly, a different AP. What you have been told by Motability confirms this. Anyway, the good news is that the 45 looks like it might be coming on to the scheme, which will be good news. If the S-Line model comes on then I might even take a look at it myself!

Ingolstadt, September 21, 2023 – Audi is systematically continuing its course for growth in fully electric models. The Audi Q4 e-tron family has contributed to the strong growth in Audi’s delivery of battery electric vehicles (BEV) in the first half of 2023 (+51.2 percent). Now, the Q4 e-tron is being comprehensively updated for the 2024 model year with a newly tuned suspension, improved efficiency, characteristic sound, and enhanced standard equipment. In addition to an optimized drivetrain and increased charging power, Audi is expanding the models’ driver assistance systems. The updated Q4 e-tron line-up will be available to order from September 26, starting at £49,915(RRP).

All Q4 e-tron models feature a large battery that provides 77 kWh of net energy (82 kWh gross). Optimized cell chemistry has improved the DC charging power so that they charge from 10 to 80 percent in around 28 minutes under ideal conditions. The quattro models now achieve a maximum DC charging power of 175 kW, and the rear-wheel drive models a maximum of 135 kW.

*The battery protection function automatically limits the charge level to 80 percent to extend battery life. To ensure intelligent trip and charge planning, the e-tron route planner prioritizes high-performance HPC stations (High-Power Charging facilitates ultrafast charging). If the driver takes the suggested route, the system activates battery preconditioning for the period before the new Audi Q4 e-tron models reach the selected, stored charging station. If the driver selects an HPC station as the destination, the system activates thermal conditioning to ensure the battery charges as quickly as possible at the station. For the first time, the Audi Q4 e-tron model family also features post-conditioning. Here, the vehicle’s thermal management system cools the battery, for example, if it exceeds a fixed temperature threshold after driving or charging.

New drive system with higher efficiency and more power
For both rear-wheel drive and quattro all-wheel drive, all Audi Q4 e-tron models now feature a permanently excited synchronous machine (PSM) on the rear axle. The update gives the Audi Q4 e-tron model family a completely redeveloped PSM notable for its higher efficiency and greater power.

The models benefit from an increased range and superior power delivery. In the UK, the enhanced Q4 e-tron model line-up will comprise the following:

*I don’t know if this will be able to turn off to alllow 100% charging on longer journeys?

I honestly think the 40 will come off the scheme due to the 45 update, but that won’t appear on the scheme for a while,if it does however the AP will be back upto 5999 +..So as usual with motorbility its a gamble, those who waited for the i4 msport gambled and the sport went up by 500….This is why IMO get your order and name in the system then after that you have choices and decisions.

                            David

                              Hi there,

Ordered this very car on Wednesday afternoon from the Ayr AUDI dealership.  Fantastic customer service from Patrick, and coffee straight out of a scene from Twin Peaks….

I’d all ready seen in real life, in the geyser blue version just the day before at the AUDI dealership in Glasgow, although Patrick introduced both himself, and the car, by sending over a presentation video, of all things dealing with himself, and what service he would provide, and then went on to do a full review of the car, and explaining all the features and benefits.

Then after cancelling the Cupra in Wednesday morning, with no fuss, I headed down to Ayr and placed an order for the AUDI Q4 45 etron….

I did leave this message on the forum on Wednesday night, to which everyone just wanted to tear apart….
Basically telling me I didn’t have a clue what I was talking about.  I was quite offended, and thought, fair enough, let them think this….

I was on Wednesday, 100% correct in all I said about ordering the  new 45 version….  If only people would read, and actually believe what they are being told…  Just in future, when someone has placed an order that very day, and there telling you word for word what they are getting, try and believe them…

Don’t suck the joy out of it.

It’ made me very wary of coming on here with information in the future.  I don’t get stuff like this wrong.

                              My motto in life…

                              Fail to prepare…..
Prepare to fail….   Which I try every day to never do… Unlike some….

Actually, I have seen on another forum that someone who had an order in for a Q4 Sport 40 on 21/08 to be delivered around Christmas and with an AP of £5,999, has had this changed to a Sport 45, same delivery date, with an AP of £4,999 (i.e. £500 more than the current AP for a Sport 40, but £1,000 less than the AP pre-October 1st.  This is for real as he has received new paperwork from Motability to that effect.

So I’m guessing that, maybe (only maybe!), the Sport 40s will stay on the list at £4,499 to clear off Audi’s current UK stocks (about 20 or so according to the Audi UK website) and the Sport 45s will be introduced alongside them at £4,999.  They also have about the same number of Sport 35s in stock so I wonder if Audi might try and sell them through Motability at a reduced AP also??

My guess and only a guess that is, Audi will honour orders till the sart of week 44 for the 40 and upgrade them to the 45. Motability will then list the 45 as a new model along with 40 (stock only) on the scheme. The AP for the 45 I expect will go up and the 40 remain at the current price.

Would they put the 35 on, I don’t now!

                                    Nope,

I’m sorry, that’s not happening, they don’t do that, try and give away the old 40 version.  Categorically told me so face to face on Wednesday, that each new order, including both your friend, who ordered on the 21/08, and me, who ordered one on Wednesday, and have been told I should, hopefully, be told my build date some point in the coming week.   I’ve had a follow up call today from Patrick,  just saying he may be phoning me on Monday with the date.

1st class service, and a man that can look you in the eye, and answer’s each and every question I asked, and not just trying to tell me what I wanted to hear.

So please feel free to pass on to your friend 2 pieces of good news….

1 – Money, I was told by Patrick that in the event of the car not arriving just before Christmas, and ending up being January instead, that in the case of any reduction in the advance payment will 100% be passed on to me, and also protected at staying at the same advance payment, should the price go up instead.

Athough, this year alone, the car has dropped down on Motability from £ 8000, to £ 6000, to £ 4499, and with the recent Tory (making a decision that’s wrong, for a change) decision to hold back promoting all things EV until December 31, 2034, when they will eventually remove their finger….

So £ 2500 saving for one’s friend.  So a wee phone call to the AUDI dealer he went through, and if worst come’s to worst, Motorbility will step in.

Hell, I ordered the Matt Petrol Blue paint, a specialist paint, for the Cupra Formentor, and the exact amount that it came to, was £ 1380, which was the deposit I laid down, with a more heftier deposit balance due, on collection.

So, when I cancelled it, they may have taken the attitude that as I had ordered the specialist paint, and then went on to lay a deposit down for the car, that came to the exact same amount, to start playing funny buggers with me.   And, no, they didn’t try to mess me about, and wished me all the best with my alternative, and I told them I would always keep them in mind from now on, and no doubts in the future, they may well see me again.

2 – Just come on and read what I post.  Sorted.

Does anyone know what the bhp / PS is of the 45 model? I had a look at the Audi configurator and oddly it only seems to show the torque (unless I’m looking in the wrong place). Might have to take a look at it if the 45 comes onto the scheme in a few weeks as suggested. Also, size wise, how does the Q4 compare to the Q3? We found the latter to be too small for us when we last changed. Is the Q4 bigger?

                                        Lorveney

Wow, Moderator kick me off if I’m stepping over the line here, but that seems quite an aggressive tone you’re displaying there, David.

Firstly, he’s not my friend, just someone who wrote on another forum. Secondly, I never said that Motability are trying to ‘give away the old 40 version’, at least not at the moment. In fact quite the opposite, they are upgrading people who have already placed an order to the new 45 version, albeit it would seem at a slightly higher AP. If (and I say again IF, this is just speculation) they then introduce the 45 onto the list and leave the 40 on at a slightly lower AP, then it is up to us to decide whether we wish to pay less for a 40 and get it more quickly from stock instead of waiting for a factory build. Some might, others might not. No different to many other models on the scheme with different prices for the same model depending on it’s specification and ‘engine’ size.

Furthermore, I cannot see where you come up with the figure of £2,500 saving for ‘my friend’. He originally paid £5,999 so even if the revised figure of £4,999 for the upgraded 45 was incorrect and should have been £4,499, that is only a £1,500 saving and only £500 less than what he is now being asked to pay.

Finally, have you received the paperwork from Motability yet confirming what the AP will be? The poster on the other forum said that his revised paperwork showed £4,999 and I have no reason to disbelieve him. If and when yours comes through at £4,499 then this is showing some inconsistency on Motability’s part and only then would I suggest that he MIGHT like to go back to the dealer to query this.

I hope you are not too offended by this reply, David. I am just trying to be objective here.

Up 80bhp from 201 to 281bhp, with a 6.7s 0-62 and an increased WLTP range of 349 miles. TheQ4 E-tron is said to be as spacious inside as the Q5 so they say but, yes the Q4 is bigger than the Q3 petrol powered

Thanks. That’s a big improvement isn’t it. I like the look of it externally. I haven’t sat in one, but have checked out the interiors on Autotrader. Admittedly it’s only photos, but it doesn’t look as modern or premium as the i4, or indeed other Audi’s I’ve been in, but if the 45 comes on the scheme as predicted, especially if the S-Line makes it, then I think this will go on my list to look at.

Well it doesn’t have a big box little theme going on if thats what you are refering to. Yes the screen sits in the dash rather than atop as seen in current Audi’s but it looks superior to the rest og=f the VW range in the front. The rear door cards have scratchy plastics running through them apart from the armrest, which seems to be getting more common again in entry range cars (I found this also to be true on the Active Tourer Msport goin by the video’s). I bet the Enyak rear cards are the best of the bunch.

Whils’t your hear, I spoke to BMW UK office and enquired about the x1 and ix1 joining. There reply was their retail order books were being fullfilled for the immediate future at least. I didn’t bother ask about the x3 🙂

Having seen the specs on the Q45 phoned my Sydner Leeds dealers this morning with a view of a test drive on the Q40. Is available in all the metallic colours on Mobility. Looking at 26 weeks at least for delivery.

What has spoilt the conversation was that they would only allow a half hour accompanied test drive and on their Insurance. I believe Mobility insurance cover this.

Will not order a car on these terms, anyone have this problem?

Is here another dealer close who will allow an extended test drive

When I test drove the cx60, I was told Direct Line allow 24hrs for an extended test drive 🙂
