      Hi All

I fail to understand how they (car manufacturers) can justify some of these price increases. It would appear there is a short supply situation at the moment and they seem to be taking advantage of us customers. Give it 6-12 months when they are struggling to sell cars due to Covid unemployment, economical crisis etc they will be falling over themselves to get Motability customers. Well, he’s a thought, why not look after us now and give us fair deals. Otherwise, long term I can see many of us either using our mobility grant for private purchasing or private leasing; then at least we will have the same leverage as private buyers!

I paid £3250 for volvo xc60 in 2016,was reluctant to do so but  was backdated after long appeal ,thought sod it..Now looks absolute bargain and extended last year for 2 more years.Glad i did because the choices and prices now are madness and i genuinely feel sympathy for those new to scheme or lease is ending.

Just hope you are right and in future the prices come down.

I agree with this totally and I’m quite surprised we find ourselves in this position. We are due to order our fourth Motability car right now. From the first time we were entitled to join the scheme, it’s been an absolute no-brainer in value-for-money terms but now, with the upward pressure on APs, it now looks marginal in value for money terms and when we take into account the fact that if we opt-out of the scheme, we can go for something a couple of years old (there are some absolute bargains out there) we are very close to deciding to not renew. I get that Motability brings a fair chunk of peace of mind but that only takes you so far. In fact, we were going to order a Volvo XC40 today, to beat the price increases but felt unhappy with effectively being pressured into it by Motability and their recent communications. It’s with a heavy heart that if the price list shows increases on our shortlist of cars (which seems massively likely), that’ll be us done with scheme when our current lease is up in December.
