Has anyone heard of RSA declining insurance to a “new driver”?

By this I mean a 40 something year old, due to pass their test this thursday to be elected as the main driver of a car. Has anyone heard of RSA declining the insurance for these new drivers?

That is very specific. You should call Motability and ask if there is any reason why said person may not be eligible to drive the vehicle, I cannot see a reason why they would be refused insurance, everyone starts as a new driver at some point, regardless of age.

Humanity is only humanity when all are treated the same regardless of their skin tone, religious beliefs and geography!

Mainly just because on RSA site it says this wording “in order to consider insuring your new driver, we need X” Its the wording of “consider” that makes it look like they might, so just wondered if anyone heard of a rejection

I think it’s more due to the fact that as of yet the main driver hasn’t passed their driving test.

              I agree with Elliot.

I do think when you have passed the driving test, I am sure the response will be completely different i.e puuting you on the insurance no problem.

RSA cannot predict if you pass or not and if they put you on prior to passing, what’s to stop you driving the car? So they are being straight down the middle IMHO as I can only think this is why.

I know of a bad driver declined a car, not insurance.

Fingers crossed for a successful test. As @masquerade says, call Motability to get their thoughts and clarification.

You can be put on the insurance without a full license aka just a provisional as long as you drive within the rules and stipulations of a being a learner.

Its not to be put on as a learner, its “when, they have their licence” has anyone heard of a “new driver” being declined insurance for any reason, as “history” won’t be one of the reasons
