AnonymousHello everyone, hope you’re all well.
Wanted to ask for some advice on my motability vehicle.
I ordered my first vehicle around early September from Hyundai and was told i’d get it around December time. It is the Hyundai i20 n-line. I’ve recently called up and they’ve explained that I haven’t been assigned a VIN or anything of the sort. I don’t really understand the process or anything but I was told it may take a little longer to get the car.
Would it be worth waiting or is there anything else I can do? I was very well hoping it would actually come in December but it happens.

You could –
Ring round other Hyundai dealers, asking if they have one in stock or have one on preorder that is coming soon or look at different manufacturers and see if any dealer with one in stock you could have. You would have to cancel with your current dealer and reorder with the new dealer.
Sit and wait.

Ditto.
Sounds like there’s been issues with production and they’ve never passed this on.
As above, ring around and see if another dealer has one in stock otherwise you may need to go for a different car.
I’m in the same boat – BMW seem to be rife and in-stock ready for March delivery whereas Volvo are quoting 3-6 month.

AnonymousAppreciate the responses.
I’ll give it a bit of time before I start searching or anything like it. Will be approaching the 6 month mark and will try and get an update before I do anything else.
Thanks again.

Being honest pal, I’d probably just start looking now because you’ve already been promised Dec which didn’t happen.
Your last update has left you with no VIN number or any evidence to say your car has been built, I don’t think I’d give them any more time without an update.
First thing tomorrow I’d contact them to request a solid update on when to expect your car. If they can’t find this then threaten to cancel your order and go with another dealer.
If that doesn’t work then I would actually go and cancel and look at another dealer.
As somewhat veteran to Motability, you have the power here because someone will end up with a bonus and the dealer will have had a sale.
Some dealers treat you like crud whereas others can be the kindest in the world.

I was in exactly your position a few months back. After placing my order, I checked the dealer 3 months later and they said, my vehicle is not assigned a build week yet.
So I went to my Hyundai dealer and asked if the had an Ioniq 5 Ultimate in stock. No they didnt, but he checked availability and one was in another dealership. So I phoned the original garage, cancelled the order. Placed the new order at the saleswomans desk.
Easy peasy.
I asked how long it took for a factory order for an ioniq 5 and she said its currently one year.
All you got to do is phone another Hyundai dealer, they will tell you over the phone if there are cars available now.
January 25, 2024 at 10:46 am #256215I cancelled a Hyundai n line Automatic back in may 2023 as they initially said two months when I asked two weeks later for a VIN order number they told me it would now be late december or into 2024 so then I also heard that this model maybe deleted as in 2024 there is a new hybrid with less power than n line and it will be just the Ultimate. I did find out as well that it was made in Turkey and that put me off so I cancelled and ordered a Mini as you guys may know and got it in August 2023 as it is made in uk.

Why did it put you off?
January 25, 2024 at 11:02 am #256219Due to Quality issues with turkish plant and time delays and To be honest my Mini is pure Quality I love it.

I new Hyundai was after taking full control (ownership) of the Turkish plant a few years back but wasn’t aware of any qaulity issues.
Enjoy the Mini 🙂
January 25, 2024 at 11:53 am #256225If you look at some Petrol Hyundai and Kia cars they have had some bad engine problems in usa they talk about this a lot and I think in uk they want to play it down as most Manufacturers do like the 3 cylinder engines in other makes like ford’s ecoboost. I think you still cannot beat a meaty large engine petrol or Diesel as they can run and run over many high miles. But I think the EV hyundai and Kia are very nice although they like Mg have had there software issues which all cars can have but a problem when all you want is for Aircon to work.
January 25, 2024 at 11:55 am #256226Toyota Corolla gets very high marks in which Mag built in uk and still great reliability I also hear that the Toyota Yaris 2024 GR is having choice of Automatic transmission I wonder if that will be on Motability I think not as price maybe too high. My choice if I did not have the Mini would be the VW Polo GTI as it has a bigger boot that the Mini and looks impressive and not too over the top and great DSG gearbox which I had in my old Skoda Fabia 1.4 tsi vrs what a great car that was I had the Estate version lots of boot space and it was great to drive.

AnonymousHello everyone.
Thank you all for the advice. Haven’t been able to get a solid update so I’m on the lookout for something else now.
I wanted to ask one last question to anyone who might see this.
What are your opinions on the Seat Ibiza? It’s the top spec model and it looks very interesting and I’ve found one on pre-order coming very soon so i’m very tempted to take it.
If anyone else has any other suggestions let me know! A lot of options to pick from.
Thanks again to all who responded to help!!!

the Ibiza is one of the better small hatchbacks. The 2023/24 model has a nicer interior than previos models and of course is a VW Polo with a tad more flair.
The new Clio is also nice but wait times are 6 months or more.

The Leon is the standard 3/6 month wait time so you should get it much faster than the Hyundai.
It’s a decent car and the engine should be the same as my current Golf – the DSG is very nice.

January 27, 2024 at 9:12 am #256463Try the VW Polo GTI as it is a cracker and has larger boot than my mini if it was on the scheme when I ordered my Mini that would have been in my choice great dsg gearbox.
