A recommendation from me. Last year there was a review of chocolate cakes for Christmas in one of the newspapers. The Aldi Specially Selected Hand Finished Chocolate Cake beat all the others. I’ve been buying them ever since, really moist and very chocolatey. There available year round and cost £2.49. They’re in a purple box on the top shelf of the back wall cake isle near the bread.

Very nice warmed with a good vanilla ice cream 🙂

Please excuse spelling/typos. Apart from being a clot it turns out I had one on my cerebellum that's now causing various problems!

Serves 6! Be lucky if it served half that in this house.

Defo won’t serve six, 3 or 4 good portions.

Slightly off topic however I tend to buy a coffee & walnut cake for my parents when I visit them.

I like walnut cake, but coffee has no business in a pudding!

Unfortunately, I don’t have an Aldi near me ? however on the topic of portion size all cakes in my house, no matter the size, are one-portion cakes, I love a cake ? ?

Very similar in this house @Brydo

I often get out numbered in favour of Madera or Carrot cake. My favourite is chocolate cake 🙂

                                Hate tiramisu.

Love Madera and fruit cake if I’m feeling really greedy I slap some salted butter on them.

Good to see one of my favourite posters posting regularly again Brydo. You’ve also been one of our most prolific and knowledgeable posters so long may your presence on here continue!

It’s also satisfying to see you and another of my favourite posters in conversation. Kezo, take a bow. Kezo the help that you’ve given to so many of our posters has been invaluable, detailed and often entertaining. Thank you for that.

If you guys are wondering why I’ve posted my thanks today, it’s down to the change of posting rules that WMC has just posted on the Forum News sticky (I would encourage all our posters to read it).

The change has made me reflect on what this forum has achieved over the last few years, and the enormous amount of information, help and support that posters like you guys, and many others of you whom I haven’t named have given freely to all who post and browse here.

Our change to a more focussed ‘registered posters only Forum’ should help protect the safe and respectful environment that we’ve tried to provide on WMCForum over the last almost seven years.

Thanks to everyone, and here’s to many more years of caring and sharing. Cheers folks.

I’ve resisted the urge to go get the choc cake but my resolve has finally weakened!

Taking my daughter shopping this morning and there’s an Aldi right across from the Tesco we’re going to 🙂

Choc cake and ice cream here I come 😀

This forum is very, very bad. Love good quality food, but talking about Cake takes the biscuit!

How can we resist, trying to be a good boy (Diabetic) I am easily led into temptation and resisting the urge not to trot off to Aldi’s ASAP. 🙁

Well, no cake as shown above, all they had were “Specially Selected Belgian Chocolate Cake”

However, looks exactly the same, 413g and was only £2.19 🙂 So that and a tub of Creamy Vanilla Ice Cream came to just over £4  😀

The one I’ve been getting has swirls of white, dark and milk chocolate on top, it’s also Belgium chocolate.

Had a “slice” with ice cream for tea, to be more accurate I had 1/4 of it! 🙂

It’s very rich and thick, not your average softies light fairy cake by any means  😀

I’m going to be very good and not have any more until tomorrow, that’s assuming my son doesn’t have it while I’m in bed tonight and he’s up all night gaming with his friend in Alabama!.

He’s been here for almost 5 weeks, originaly cat sitting while I took my daughter away for a week then stayed to help me with the hand injury.  Got it down to 2 straps but the finger isn’t anywhere near straight and the whole hand is still swollen and very painful.  Went out shopping with my Ex and daughter this morning, ended up out for almost 4hrs so that didn’t make it any better!.  Back at Hospital on Dec 6th for another evaluation.
