Having driven the F Corsa for 3 yrs ( never missed a beat ) and now finding it quite low to get in/out off I have chosen a slightly taller car

After Nissans £800 AP increase and now unable to afford the Qashqai E Power as they now inc the £300 glass roof which last month was an option

(I have happily ordered the car I originally wanted but had been removed from the scheme

The Puma vignale 155 chosen for its Fun drive as it was more important to me than economy

Although 40 miles plus suits me just fine

And it is only a second slower than my old 2ltr Bmw Active Tourer so no slouch

      Puma vignale 155

yes I was surprised to see the £800 rise from Nissan and rather hoping the Tecna trim would would reduce its AP Q2 or the X Trail Tecna trim joined.

From what I can gather, the majority of manufacturers reduced their AP’s. The Kuga FHEV Vignale at £2695 was tempting untill you remember its got a CVT box, which I can’t see myself ever going back to. There is also a faceift coming this year, so I guess Ford is wanting to get rid of them.

Anyway I hope you enjoy the Puma 🙂

Ford will enter the all-electric small SUV space with an electrified Puma

Ford is about to expand it’s all-electric range of cars with a new Puma EV. The regular internal combustion engined Puma will continue as the firm’s smallest model, following the Fiesta being cut from the lineup in 2023 and a pure-electric variant should help broaden its appeal.

Agreed, thats if it stays on the scheme!

However, not been a fan of a CVT I’d probably give it a miss anyway. Most reviews Ive seen or read say it lets the car down.

If I’m honest I’m now past the 0% stage of leaving the scheme, its just a question whether I hang on till q3 or not.

                  CVT?

Constantly variable transmission. Had one in a Nissan years ago, doesn’t change gears just keeps going in same gear. Don’t fully understand how it works but I’m sure someone will help.

                    CVT?

A type of transmission, they’re much better than they were but the disconnect between the noise the engine is making and the forward motion can be a little strange! But economical for sure ?

Congrats on your order ? did they give you an idea of timescale?

                      CVT?

                      Was a question to Kezo

Are you saying the Puma has a CVT?

Continuously variable transmission. It is infamous for its “elastic band effect”

This elastic/rubber band effect occurs when you floor the throttle or demand quick acceleration the revs will climb higher vehicle than the vehicle accelerates. There is no sudden surge of torque, or does the engine utilises its full power potential. Hower CVT transmission is more economical. However CVT boxes have imprved over the years.

Like Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT) isn’t without it faults. It can be hesitant pulling away from a standstill and can lag on change of gear.

None are without heir inherint faults and have improved over recent years, however I personally prefer DCT 🙂

                          From Fords ste.

The Puma is now available with EcoBoost Hybrid Powershift, a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission (DCT) option for the 125 PS and 155 PS 1.0-litre EcoBoost Hybrid engines. The greater number of gear ratios, low-weight design, and advanced dual-clutch operation all work to deliver smooth, seamless gear changes for a less demanding drive in stop-start city traffic. Along with outstanding fuel efficiency and fun-to-drive performance – with the 1.0-litre 155 PS version capable of 0-100 km/h in just 8.7 seconds.

If youve opted for auto its DCT transmission.

The Kuga facelift is due Autumn 2023 but as ford are struggling to build current Kuga’s within 8-12 months the facelift probably won’t be available anytime soon.

I ordered a Kuga Vignale FHEV last week due to the Nissan price increase so maybe I’ll get the facelift ?or not.

Yeah, I thought that – just down the road from me. Looks like the old Vosper yard at Portchester there & taken from Port Solent?…
