They’re very high. Motability management have a certain standard of living that must be upheld.

I think a McDo meal is expensive these days, but yes, the nice cars are very expensive, probably always have been. Maybe it’s relative??

As Joss says, this has been discussed countless times and, yes, APs have risen phenomenally in recent years. Many cars now have APs that are at least double what they were just a few years ago.

Motability were telling the Dealer Principals of some of their biggest dealerships last year that the main cause of APs increasing was down to concerns over the poor residual values of EVs. As Motability are under pressure to push EVs, and have been for some time, this has become a major issue and, as a result, APs have risen across the board for ALL customers in order to attempt to cover it. There’s no sign of second hand EV values improving, so this upward trend in APs is likely to continue.

Unfortunately everything is much more expensive these days than it was and I see no end to the price hikes.

Eating out especially, can’t believe the price of an average meal, even takeaways are getting ridiculous. Had fish & chips in Cornwall last week and it came to £30 for two portions from a chip shop.

A lot lower than a private lease.

If you want a guchy new shiny car , then they cannot come at much more discount than they already are.

Contact mutability and see if you qualify for a grant which covers the cost of the AP and adaptions. I didn’t know this until my 3rd car with them..

                          Mutability. An unfortunate typo.

APs, like Glos Guy says, are affected by many factors. Retail has been skewed for many years by taxation. BIK has distorted the market, Volvo says 40% of PHEV returned leases have never plugged in. How does lugging around an extra 400kgs for 3 years help the planet?  VED exemption for EVs is coming to an end. The £40000 luxury supplement, kicks in and is a disincentive for potential retail customers. It would be great to have a level playing field and APs to reflect that, but who can anticipate the next government u turn?

imho, since president Nixon’s ending of the gold standard and the introduction of fiat currencies, money has continually devalued verses most hard assets. Gordon Brown sold our gold for @$250 per ounce. Today $3250. Genius.

Not really high when compared to the price that the cars are nowadays, compared to 3 or 4 years ago.

Will get worse when all the government employer tax increases start to bite, say within the next 8 months or so. That effects every item or service we buy .

Just need to start saving if you want the car of your wishes.

To be fair to cars, it is the one thing that is getting bigger. I couldn’t get in an original mini these days! BUT shrinkflation is just about everywhere else.
