Please forgive me if this is common knowledge…….

This extract from the link below it

Net of this support provided to existing customers and Motability, we report a post-tax profit of £559.9m. This financial result provides us with adequate capital headroom in the context of our growth expectations and in light of our commitment to invest £300m over the next five years to support the “worry-free” transition to electric vehicles for current and future generations of customers.

This result has also enabled us to provide additional affordability support to all new and renewing Car Scheme customers in the form of a £250 payment towards the cost of their next lease. This will be available for all existing customers as of 31 December 2021 and payable at the point at which they renew into their next lease and to any new to Scheme customers who either have a pending application which is delivered or who place an application during the 2022 calendar year. A support payment of £100, which will be based on the same criteria, will also be available to new and renewing PWSS customers. In total these payments represent an investment of up to £180m towards supporting customers’ affordability.

Another angle to this is that they are quite likely experiencing record numbers of extensions which doesn’t particularly help their business model.

So as well as all the obvious reasons for doing it they’ll be hoping it might just tip those wavering on an extension decision into ordering a new car.

If I seem a little strange, that's because I am.

I think that lease extensions help them greatly. Over 2 years they receive over £6k in additional sacrificed benefits and the servicing, MOT and cost of tyres etc will be less than £1k in the vast majority of cases. The remaining £5k more than covers year 4 and 5 depreciation and they also save on the capital outlay of buying a new car. The £250 is a pacifier, given that they made £1k additional profit for every customer on the scheme in just one year so feel compelled to give 25% of that back to stave off criticism – and the tactic seems to have worked.

I think there should be a like button on this forum to highlight people’s opinions so we can see what matters to people without having to write something because sometime its hard to put into words what we think.like I personally think everything glos guy says is absolutely relevant to how Motability is at the moment.not sure who the moderator’s are but I think it would be worth considering.

The like / dis-like button use to be the go for thing on nearly all forum years ago and although there still used on American forums as they still have a little bit of freedom, they have mostly disappeared in Europe because they say, whoever they are, that they can cause offence.

Some sites still have the “like” but not the “dis-like” buttons but that gives a false impression so the best way is just post “agreed” or “disagreed” to a post or answer, or like the silent majority, just keep quiet. ?

I’m not just saying this because wibbuk likes my posts (but thanks for the comment wibbuk), but I also feel that a ‘like’ feature would be a great addition to the forum. I wouldn’t support a ‘dislike’ option though as that becomes a bit personal. I only use one other forum (completely different subject matter) and that has a ‘like’ facility for all posts. I use it a lot. It saves having to make pointless and repetitive ‘I agree’ posts. I hope that @wmcforum considers this.

it is also a carrot to wave at the many who will be considering leaving scheme too i bet.  Judging by way im going I will be in a van next if i make it that far and and still driving etc. no overly hopeful of that happening tho.
