        I doubt it.

You’ll charge at home and use rapids when out and about.

A lot of car parks have parking restrictions which would prevent staying longer and 22kWh isn’t going to get you much in half an hour, whereas a rapid may get you 10-80%.

22kWh is nice to have, just not essential.

You get a cable supplied with the car we had a Scenic.

If it’s for home charging then most are only one phase and 7.4kw, So I’d just get a 7.4kw / 8m lead to use at home. You can then just leave the lead that comes with the car, in the car and use that if needed away from home up to 22kw.

My car also has 22kw and is a useful option to have and use over rapid charging sometimes, if one is at your destination for example. I can fill my battery totally in 3 hrs from zero to 100%, so no need to then charge on route. It gives you more options and flexibility.

hi @gazzagaz, do you have a 3 phase power supply at home. If not, you can only have a 7KW charger. So check your mains for feasibility of having a 22kw charger. If you dont have 3 phase supply, DNOs can charge anywhere between £2-5K for upgrade, which you will have to factor into any cost saving.

If you already have 3 phase supply, the question is whether you drive more than 150-200miles each day or you cant charge at night? if not, cheap off peak charging with EON or Octopus will give 50kwh per night, which is good enough for 150 miles.

If you do drive more than that often, then it is the cost of public charging for extra vs. cable and 22kw charger installation costs. Motability only give Ohme which is 7KW. If you need 22kw, think it will be at your own cost.

Ohme only provide 7.4kWh chargers so I’d go for that.

                      @Gazzagaz

As it’s Ohme ring them and ask them to supply the charger with an 8M cable.

I also have the ePod and they sent me an 8M instead of the usual 5M they supply at no extra charge.

I’d ring Ohme, mine wasn’t supplied when the charger was installed, installer said once he’d finished he’d notify Ohme and they’d send it out to me.  I rang Ohme to confirm and they said yes, it’s on the way.  As it turned out it wasn’t! but another call sorted that out.

Def give them a ring and explain your cable never turned up after the install, and then add “By the way, can I just check it will be the 8m cable as the 5 won’t reach”

I don’t think the epod, comes with a free cable now.

I had my charger installed in November and when I had to pick the unit. You had to pay extra for a 5m or 8m cable with the epod.

However 5m was included with the home pro. I opted to pay extra for the 8m tethered, so then it will reach the road if needed. Kind of glad I went with the tethered.

i would say the only reason to go for a 22kw charger is if you work and your company had a 3phase charging system that operated 22kw chargers.

if you are charging from home it will be 7.4kw and it would be my guess that that would suffice
