hi looking for advice my Motability car I had for 18 months was stolen in February. I got a new one end of march and that also got stolen may 2nd. This has caused us terrible distress and to make matters worse we can’t order a new one until investigation is complete as 2 cars stolen in 3 months is obviously not common.

has anyone been in a situation like this I am starting to panic I may not get another one and be isolated

      thanks

As a matter of interest which cars did you have? Did they have keyless entry? Next time make sure you get a Faraday pouch if keyless entry and a good quality steering lock. If they stole the keys during a house burglary then make sure you hide the keys every time.

Thats terrible news @zoebianca1 and I hope you can get another car with no bother. It’s not like it is your fault. Chin up.

I always use a Stopcock and a Faraday pouch.

Unfortunately I have suffered a brain injury and occasionally I get confused and often say the wrong thing.

Didn’t know turning off the water stopped the car from starting. 🤣🤣

                Your car has a “stopcock” ?? 😆👏👍

Don’t you just love auto correct spelling? 🤭 Jokes aside I completely agree with you on using a stoplock type device. People say “Yeah but thief’s can get around that..” etc which of course is true. But, unless you have something really fancy they’ll not bother and move onto the next vehicle. Criminals generally don’t like hard work.

I use the Milenco steering lock which I believe has one of the highest ratings on security. Takes seconds to apply. The one thing we all need to take into account is that if our car is stolen then how long will we have to wait for another? Way I see it a £60 investment I couldn’t do without. 👍

True a determined thief will get through most of the aftermarket security devices but it will take them time. Some devices can be overcome in seconds and some in minutes. If he is determined to get your car then he will risk spending extra time otherwise he will move onto the next car

Nice to see we are flooded with jokes about stopcock 😁

Hi all my first one was a puma had it 18 months before it was stolen I didn’t have a steering lock nor a stopcock 🤣 it was keyless but the keys were fished through the letterbox.

second car was a fiesta also keyless but I kept keys locked away and also had a stop lock (presuming they had tools to dismantle it)

I have now had cameras fitted too and just hoping insurance aren’t harsh and don’t say they won’t insure another one. As it will leave me and my disabled son isolated.

Did the cars turn up again or did they just disappear?

Ahh that’s terrible, so sorry. I bought a pack of two faraday pouches off Amazon for my key and the spare to live on when not in use. The range extenders these thieves use are very powerful.

A faraday pouch is a must with keyless cars, however, I would counsel against hiding the keys when you’re in the house. If they have gone to the lengths of breaking into your house for the keys, they are going to get them whatever the cost, and do you really want to go through that potential trauma for a car?

@matt9815 completely agree. Our front hallway windows were smashed and entry gained to steal both our cars while we were all in bed upstairs. Number one priority was keeping the kids safe. This was 2007.
