Tony Blair says that Brexit should not be decided in a one issue General Election. He says that it would be unrepresentative if the one party was returned with a majority of only 30% plus of the vote.

If 60% plus of the people voting are disenfranchised there will no resolution and no collective way forward.

I believe he’s right on this issue.

If a deal is not agreed by Oct 31st, the next step should be to urgently arrange a second fully informed referendum with just two clear choices …. 1) Leave with No Deal …. 2) revoke article fifty ….  and a requirement that a majority of at least 60% of the voters vote for the winning decision, that then becomes binding and will be implemented immediately with no further parliamentary discussion.

The Brexit issue will be put to bed by next spring at the latest and we can get on with making the best of the UK’s fully informed decision.

Politics can be made simpler if personal ambition is taken out of the equation.
