I had both a good sit in a Compass and a test drive in one at yesterday’s Motability One Big Day event at Harrogate. The display one I sat in and the tester were both well put together and I was very impressed.

I totally concur with Jordan’s post about the standard equipment on the Compass Limited vs the Renegade Trailhawk. The Compass easily wins on specification compared to the Renegade, barring the headlights, but as I have always had halogens, I can live with them a few more years.

Doing the sums, the Compass 2.0 diesel Auto 4×4 Limited with Pentagon’s current £300 cashback and the £600 GCB, makes the ‘cost to change’ a net £193 (AP £1093 minus £600GCB minus £300 cashback = £193. A bit of a no brained really.

Overall, I was very impressed with the Compass. It is a decent sized SUV with a proper 4×4 system. As I live high in the Pennines, a 4×4 is really a necessity during a harsh winter, as the lesser spotted snow ploughs and gritters are becoming even more lesser spotted.

I am hoping to have an extended test drive next week to properly put it through its paces.
