I once tried a 2010 Prius and was completely underwhelmed.
I also do lots of short journeys and thought that a hybrid would be ideal for my business (my wife is the Motability customer)
However, the Prius type of hybrid won’t run at all in full electric mode until the engine is warmed up, so 2 to 4 miles on petrol power.
However, a plug-in hybrid might be of more use to you although I think most have an official range of sub 30 miles even on a full charge.
