Was just reading an online piece stating that, allegedly, “Drivers under the age of 30 on Motability will have to have a black box fitted from now on. New rules come in today for Motability drivers – with a 10-day limit to sign up. The new black boxes will be installed for all drivers leasing their first car or wheelchair accessible vehicle on the Motability Scheme and all vehicles where there is a driver on the lease under 30 years old. Vehicles will be equipped with telematics devices that will track driving behaviour, including speed and braking patterns, and will generate a weekly rating of green, amber or red. Motability says that safe drivers (ones that stay in the green) could earn up to £160 a year in rewards to spend – however drivers with four red ratings over a 12-month period could be removed from the Motability scheme.” Regardless of the animosity this course of action has already stirred up within the disabled community….why is it only Black Boxers that get rewarded for driving safely? Where’s the £160 of rewards to spend for those of us that are over 30 and haven’t flattened the neighbours Chihuahua doing burnouts and donuts in our cul de sacs?

I was thinking this myself, our car is always returned spotless with below average miles.
