I know that we always say that the contract does not come into play until we put our PIN in. But is that an over simplification, What if we order our Avocado color car with a load of optional extras and then decide we have changed our mind prior to putting in our PIN. I know that I ordered my car with several extras ( although not the Avocado color), most needed, and one wanted. I did not pay for them until I was picking up my car and entering my PIN. Is the idea of entering your PIN after you have checked the car is what you ordered and in perfect condition and accepting the car. Is the spirit of the PIN, not the same as checking the car before signing the contract and paying the money, if you were buying the car. I know that I did not pay my AP or for the extras until I checked the car was o.k. and then I put in my PIN. I doubt that the dealer nor Motability would have been happy if I just walked/wheeled away pre putting in my PIN and without paying because I simply changed my mind. Taking into account all the adverse changes that Motability are making, I think it is only a matter of time before Motability tighten up the rule about cancelling and reordering, as it is obviously them costing them money. However, having said that, I think they should go back to the practice of either charging the AP price when ordered or the new AP price, if goes down by time of collection. It was done and worked before, it can work again.

They have a right to charge for factory options, if they are not common and would result in difficulties selling the vehicle. However, they would have to proove that and many dealers do charge upfront for such options, but with no contract signed untill the PIN is entered can make it difficult.
